About the Job
This position will be responsible for designing and conducting NIH-funded research experiments pertaining to the role of transcription factor mediated networks to direct the fate of stem and iPS cells to a mesodermal fate (i.e. cardiac, endothelial, skeletal muscle); and conducting research in the areas of transcriptional regulation of cardiac progenitors, transcriptional regulation of myogenic stem cells.
Representative publications from the Garry lab include: Das S. et al. Generation of human endothelium in pig embryos deficient in ETV2. Nature Biotechnology.2020 38(3):297-302 and Kamdar F. et al. Stem cell derived cardiomyocytes and beta adrenergic receptor blockade in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Cardiomyopathy. J. Am. Coll. Cardiol. 2020 75(10):1159-1174 and Singh BN et al., A conserved HH-Gli1-Mycn network regulates heart regeneration from newt to human. Nature Communication. 2018 9(1):4237.
This position will be expected to collaborate with other laboratory scientists and outside scientific partners in the design, implementation, and analysis of experiments. As required, this position will be expected to prepare manuscripts for submission to scientific journals and present at scientific meetings.
Detailed documentation of procedures and experimental data are expected. This involves analyses of data, writing summary reports on results of work and discussing results with laboratory colleagues and the Principal Investigator. This position will be required to present independent review of relevant scientific literature for ongoing projects and discussions of possible new experimental approaches with laboratory colleagues and principal Investigator. In addition, this position will be required to present regular presentations of scientific data and significant contribution to the preparation of manuscripts.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
A Ph.D. (or equivalent) degree in neurobiology, microbiology, cell biology, immunology or a related field and with 1 year of research training
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated experience developing scientific protocols and scientific writing. Submit excellent letters of recommendation
Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $61,008 - $74,088 depending on education/qualifications/experience and appropriate NIH stipend level
