Landon seeks a full-time

Chief Financial Officer

starting for the 2025-2026 school year. The CFO works closely with the Head of School, COO, other key admin, and the Board of Trustees to provide financial leadership and management of Landon and to inform strategic decision-making around finances, budgets, investments, tuition and revenue, financial aid, audit, and other key business aspects of the School.

The general areas of responsibility/oversight include:

•Budget creation, management, and reporting

•Long-term financial planning/modeling/analysis and capital investment

•Strategic cash, investment, and debt oversight

•Risk oversight, including insurance, financial risk mitigation, and audit supervision

•Board engagement as primary staff person for Finance Committee, Endowment Committee, Audit/Risk Management Committee; also serve on B&G Committee.

•Manage all Business Office functions, including financial policies and procedures, Accounts Payable/Receivable, and oversee all functions managed by COO and Director of HR.

Requirements

Qualified candidates will possess:

•At least 10 years of related strategic financial management experience, preferably in an independent school or non-profit organization with budget of at least $25M.

•Experience overseeing endowments of at least $20M and knowledge of associated accounting standards

•Desire to engage in a mission-based organization as strategic thought partner with leadership and demonstrated success with leading change management efforts

•Experience working as with and/or as a member of non-profit boards.

•Experience managing debt and various associated covenants

•Goal oriented team player, experienced in developing and motivating others and participating in collaborative work efforts across functional areas

•High degree of integrity, ethical behavior, and emotional intelligence

•Excellent communications and analytical skills, including strong knowledge of using Excel for complex modeling.

•Knowledge of Veracross and/or other enterprise accounting systems and non-profit fund accounting
