Overview:
We are hiring an experienced manual and automated Software Test Engineer to play a key role in delivering high-quality, reliable software solutions! Software Test Engineers work on a highly collaborative team writing automated and manual tests to verify business requirements. This position resides in the Software Engineering Group within the Application Development Division of the Information Technology Services Directorate, at Oak Ridge National Laboratory ( https://www.ornl.gov/ ) (ORNL).

Major Duties/Responsibilities:
Establish software testing strategies, both manual and automated, for application development teams. Develop and maintain automated tests written in tools such as Playwright, Selenium, and Katalon in collaboration with developers and Product Manager. Collaborate with development team to setup and maintain processes that run tests on demand, as part of check-in, or with nightly scheduled builds. Collaborate with development team, including the Product Manager, to ensure tests and documentation meet the expectations of the software requirements. Collaborate with Product Manager and other members of the development team to ensure software requirements are accurately represented in epics, features, and user stories. Collaborate with other test engineers in the organization to improve overall testing strategies. Work as part of a development team regularly updating any user stories, tasks, or defects that you've agreed to while collaborating with teammates. A BS degree in a business, technical, scientific, or related field of study with five (5) to seven (7) years of proven experience is required. An overall combination of equivalent experience may be considered. Experience with commonly used testing tools such as Playwright, Selenium, Katalon, or similar tools. Experience in documenting software testing strategy and test plans/results to meet formal Software Quality Assurance requirements. A solid understanding of using Git for version control including common branching and merging strategies. Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills and problem-solving abilities. Preferred Qualifications:
Real-world experience developing automated tests. Experience working as team member under one or more Agile development methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, Lean, etc. Desire to continuously improve technical skills, processes, and strategies in delivering regular, reliable, high-quality releases. Special Requirements:
Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. This position requires access to technology that is subject to export control requirements. Successful candidates must be qualified for such access without an export control license.
