Technology Development Manager - USP Technologies

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Technology Development Manager is responsible for supporting the field sales team in presenting the value of USP water & wastewater treatment products to meet customer needs; collaboration with R&D and Marketing functions on new product development (NPD) and technology innovation. This position will also act as an expert on the application of our chemical offerings & offer product recommendations for optimal treatment results.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES Available for field sales assistance as needed to include plant surveys, proposal preparation, technical sales presentations, and customer/prospect entertainment with the involvement of our field sales representatives or management. Manage the product portfolio and technical capabilities for all new product development. Maintain advanced knowledge of water/wastewater treatment facilities and USP applications to provide focused technical assistance. Conduct lab and field scale studies on new products & core technologies and present findings to customers verbally and in writing. Write & present case studies in industry publications and trade shows; membership in water/wastewater industry organizations (e.g. WEF, state associations). Provide field troubleshooting and technical assistance as required, to include problem solving, sales representative & operator training. Provide office-based support when not traveling, to include customer telephone consultation, proposal and process flow diagram (PFD) review, data analysis, internal technical training for USP associates etc. Assist in field seminars and new account startups as directed by your manager. Travel in US & Canada as needed to support new applications & product development (est. 25% - 50% of time). KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Able to manage multiple project priorities with minimal supervision. Advanced knowledge of municipal and industrial water & wastewater treatment, including biological treatment processes Sound knowledge of liquid phase water & wastewater treatment chemistries, including oxidizers (e.g. peroxide, peracetic acid, nitrate), iron salts, alkali's, coagulants/flocculants. Strong laboratory skills Working knowledge of chemical storage & feed systems & controls. Technical, analytical, and business acumen Communication and Interpersonal skills; Teamwork and leadership Self-management; people & organizational skills EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, environmental science or engineering; Master's degree highly preferred. Minimum 7-10 years of experience providing technical support in municipal & industrial wastewater treatment 15+ years of field experience in water & wastewater treatment will be considered as an equivalent to a four-year degree. PHYSICAL DEMANDS

As projects demand, required to walk, stand, climb stairs, squat, kneel, talk, hear, and smell. Routinely required to sit in an office environment for admin, meetings, and travel. Use of hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, and computer keyboards. Occasionally required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Use of all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required by USP and/or customer site which may include eye, hearing and respiratory protection, personal H2S monitor, flame resistant clothing, steel toe shoes, gloves, hard hats, or face shields. Occasional work in high or low temperature conditions (e.g. summer/winter, process areas) Both Indoor and outdoor sites may have high noise levels Use of hazardous chemicals Trust and respect for customers, vendors, and USP associates

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An associate's position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.

The compensation range for this role is $130,000 - $150,000 USD per year. This job is also eligible for Bonus / Incentive Pay.
