Description
CAMS is seeking an Operations Manager for the New Haven Harbor Station in New Haven, CT. Under the general direction of the Plant Manager, the Operations Manager is responsible for safe, reliable, and environmentally compliant operation of the facility. Evaluates and manages plant performance and initiates improvement affecting reliability, availability and efficiency.
New Haven Harbor Station is a 453 MW, #6 fuel oil and natural gas fueled facility consisting of one conventional steam unit in New Haven, CT. New Haven Peaking is a 144MW, ULSK and natural gas fueled facility consisting of three LM6000 simple cycle combustion turbines co-located on the property of New Haven Harbor Station.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operates the plant in a manner that minimizes the cost of generation and maximizes profitability while maintaining the long-term viability of the station assets. Direct, plan and coordinate the day-to-day activities of operating personnel to meet generation schedules including efficient utilization of fuel as it relates to unit operation and fuel handling. Daily supervision, monitoring, coaching, developing, and performance management of employees to ensure a productive workforce in compliance with company policies, procedures and collective bargaining agreements. Administer company and station policies / procedures. Participate in station strategic and business planning initiatives. Develop and manage the operating groups' O&M budget and expenditures. Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulatory requirements and maintain environmental stewardship. Provide communication and reporting of plant status and activities to support plant objectives. Perform other duties and handle special projects as assigned by the Plant Manager. Management of on-site fuel inventory to ensure flexible and reliable operation during dispatch times. Develops and coordinates outages, testing and regulatory compliance obligations. Requirements
Bachelor's degree in engineering and 5 years power plant operation, maintenance, and / or technical experience or 10 years' experience leading operations or maintenance process Knowledge of State, Local and Federal environment regulations as they apply to power plant operations General knowledge of NERC requirements Able to compile reports, analyze data, and participate in root cause analysis activities. Collective Bargaining Agreement experience Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including written and verbal Demonstrated technical knowledge of fossil-fuel power plants Ability to acquire applicable State License(s) in required time period Good organizational skills and ability to effectively manage / prioritize multiple activities and requirements. Basic understanding of budgeting and cost reporting Leadership capabilities, able to engage others in the required process and hold people accountable Strong computer skills, including knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products Candidate must foster an inclusive work environment and respect all aspects of diversity.
