Position Summary:

The Claims Coordinator performs professional work ensuring the successful operations of the organization's Insurance Defense Department. This position is responsible for maintaining claims records and investigation reports, fielding all initial interactions and calls and emails with potential claimants while also providing support to Senior Legal Counsel and all other members of the Litigation and Insurance Defense Department. This individual will assist the department with ensuring accuracy in COTA's Claims Management software (Origami), and other clerical and administrative functions.

This Position is Responsible For: Maintains accuracy in data entry, filing, and distribution of all accident and incident reports including but not limited to all monthly reports; Creates and maintains claim and case files; Responsible for organizing and maintaining COTA's claims file room; Responsible for daily correspondence and telephone calls from claimants, attorneys, and others on open and potential files; Responsible for monitoring intake of new claims daily; Responsible for onsite/offsite records retention for Insurance Defense department; Supports division with updating and maintaining department documents; Conducts minor finance and accounting functions for the department; Assists the department with the execution of various special projects; and Serves as backup to Legal Coordinator and other COTA personnel. At Minimum You'll Need:

Requires an Associate's Degree and five (5) years of administrative experience in the insurance field demonstrating progressively responsible administrative experience. A paralegal certification and at least 2 years of experience working in a litigation or insurance defense will also be considered. Experience in a legal setting with knowledge of the importance of filing matters within the statute of limitations is a plus. An equivalent combination of education and experience in will also be considered.
