Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician Job Specialty: Sterile Processing Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Other (5x8 Hr) Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week Experience: 6 months of experience preferred License: Not specified Certifications: CRCST or CSPDT certification required within 18 months of hire or transfer Must-Have: - Basic computer skills required - English proficiency (speak, read, write) - High School Diploma or GED Job Description: - Promote quality and patient safety in the OR by ensuring efficient flow in the Sterile Processing department. - Perform tasks related to decontamination, processing, sterilization, and distribution of instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies. - Responsible for operating and monitoring sterilization equipment. - Maintain records in line with AAMI, AORN, Joint Commission, and OSHA standards. - Ensure compliance with sterilization best practices and manufacturer recommendations. - Assure cleanliness of decontamination, sterilization, and equipment areas. - Validate the proper functioning of all equipment using mechanical and biological monitors. - Ensure sterilized supplies and instruments are correctly labeled and stored in compliance with regulatory guidelines. - Uphold quality, infection prevention, and regulatory standards. - Demonstrate technical skills for High-Level Disinfection (HLD) processes. - Utilize computerized tray/instrument tracking systems. - Apply knowledge of safety protocols and consistently wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). - Report safety issues, environmental concerns, or process deviations to a supervisor. - Maintain a customer-friendly rapport with peers and customers. - Provide on-call coverage as per departmental policy. - Assist in transporting sterilized instrumentation to operating rooms as needed. - Verify required instrumentation availability for upcoming cases. - Assist in removing soiled case carts from the operating room. - Respond to problem calls from Surgery during regular business hours. - Float to other locations within 60 miles, as needed.
