Job Summary
Performs all echocardiography lab exams. Provides quality patient care using lab physiological and ultrasound equipment. Assists with clinical rotations in both in-patient and out-patient settings as the schedule dictates and participates in after hours and on-call services.Bonus

Essential Functions

Performs most modalities of echocardiography (i.e. 2-D, M-Mode, Doppler, and color flow Doppler imaging, as well as assists with qualified physician with TEE procedures). Performs lab procedures using independent judgement during the exam to accurately differentiate between normal and abnormal findings. Exams must follow IAC approved scanning protocol, and the Smart Protocols must be utilized when possible. Reviews images and paperwork to ensure quality exams are complete, thorough and prepared for review by reading physicians
Rotates to multiple lab locations as scheduled and required by the IAC. Participates in the daily workflow by observing the sonographer worklist to ensure timely patient care. Schedules exams through the transport system if applicable. Participates in the Lab after hours, on-call, weekend and holiday schedules.
Operates all lab testing equipment and software packages including but not limited to ultrasound and physiological equipment, EMR and Structured Reporting and PACS. Reports any equipment issues to the appropriate personnel and removes equipment from service. Cleans the equipment and work areas daily and stocks rooms with supplies and linen. Maintains up to date maintenance logs to include the monthly cleaning log and the equipment down time log.
Attends staff/departmental meetings and educational conferences. Participates in discussions. Keeps abreast of changes in the field and participates in collecting data, images and articles.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities
This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.
Minimum Requirements
Education - Associate degree. Graduate of a formal Radiology or Sonography program
Experience - One (1) year echo sonography experience performing non-invasive cardiac ultrasound studies. Clinical rotations during a formal educational program may be considered as experience.
In Lieu Of
In Lieu of the education and experience requirements noted above, five (5) years of dedicated cardiac ultrasound experience may be considered.
Team members in this job as of 11/08/2020 are grandfathered from the minimum requirements listed above. Additionally, may be grandfathered from obtaining required registration pending state and regulatory requirements.

ARDMS- RDCS or CCI-RCS
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of vascular anatomy and hemodynamics
Proficient computer skills (word processing)
Proficient in the use of telephone, printers, and fax machines.
Medical terminology preferred
