Owned by Marmon Holdings/Berkshire Hathaway, UTLX headquarters is in Chicago's financial district, close to major public transportation hubs. This Summer internship is hybrid in our Chicago office with a requirement to be in-office 2-4 days/week for the duration of the Summer program (approximately late May - mid-August). JOB DESCRIPTION: The "Programmer Analyst" Intern will support and work closely with the IT Delivery team. The "Programmer Analyst" Intern will report to the "Development" function under the IT Delivery team. This is a terrific opportunity to work on various key projects and get exposure within the rail industry. KEY PROJECTS: 1. UTLX/Procor Customer Portal (LinkNET) Improvements - This important project will involve working with legacy code to modernize it and make various improvements to the web-based LinkNET customer portal application. The enhancements will entail improved security, a more modern user interface, and code refactoring to modernize the underlying legacy tech stack. 2. Collaborate with the IT Delivery team on a variety of other smaller initiatives as needed. REQUIRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related discipline which teaches programming/coding as part of the curriculum Programming skills in Java or another related object-oriented programming language Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills Proficient in Microsoft Products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
