Junior Java Developer Category: Software Development/ Engineering Main location: United States, Tennessee, Knoxville Position ID: J1224-0683 Employment Type: Full Time Position Description: CGI is seeking a Java Developer with modern software engineering practices and respective tools. Working in a cross-functional agile Kanban team, you will be providing production support for multiple clients of cloud-based web applications to ensure the seamless operation of our web applications. In addition, you will be designing, developing, testing, demoing and documenting defects and enhancements. You will be involved in backlog refinement, Kanban planning, reviews/demos as well as be responsible for meeting software compliance standards. This role is in Knoxville, TN. The work schedule is on site 4-5 days a week. Be on call on the weekend and evenings about once a month on a rotating basis. Your future duties and responsibilities: • Monitor and maintain the performance and availability of web applications in the cloud • Troubleshoot and resolve issues reported by end-users and internal teams • Document and report on production incidents and resolutions • Participate in application deployments and updates • Work within development teams to design, develop, test, implement, document, and support technical solutions across a full-stack of development tools and technologies • Ensure that software meets or exceeds specified standards and end-user requirements • Contribute to continuously improving software engineering practices through the identification and implementation of improvements Required qualifications to be successful in this role: • Basic understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) • Experience as a software engineer with focus on Java development • Experience in JSON, YAML, REST API's, JPA • Basic knowledge of database management and SQL • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills • Proficient oral and written communication skills Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required • Understanding and experience working in CI/CD environments and tools: Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins • Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus). • Familiarity with GraphQL • Experience in Java Frameworks (Spring MVC, Spring Security, Hibernate) • Experience in working with relational databases (e.g., Postgres) • Experience in working with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB) • Experience working in a cross-functional agile-scrum product development team CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $57,000-121,900. CGI anticipates accepting applications for this position through February 28, 2024.
