Summary: Reporting to the Chief People and Administrative Officer is an outstanding opportunity for a creative writer and storyteller to join a global company that is executing a strategic plan to transform its business for the future. The candidate will have the chance to add value during a time of evolution and growth and understand the need for effective communications at this stage of the company's journey.
The successful candidate must have a passion for innovation and deep experience in designing and implementing multi-channel, strategic communications on a range of issues for diverse internal and occasionally external audiences. The person in this role must have experience working with senior executives; understanding how to convert internal communications strategies into measurable business results; and be a creative thinker and a collaborative partner to colleagues across the organization. The Director will lead strategic communications initiatives that foster the vision, mission, and values of the organization as well as promote and develop its voice and branding. Responsible for messaging to key constituencies and stakeholders, the ideal candidate is a thoughtful leader, strategic thinker, experienced writer, creative problem-solver, and a valuable team member. The role demands energy, dynamism and a positive attitude combined with diligence and vigilance. The candidate must possess: a crisp, clear and concise writing style, with an entrepreneurial mindset and experience including corporate reputation and employee engagement. S/he must have a high level of comfort interacting, building trust and persuading key stakeholders, including internal contacts, media and other influencers.
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute strategic employee communications initiatives
Provide strategic counsel and lead message development for senior leaders
Create and implement comprehensive, engaging and effective communications campaigns and collateral
Establish a system to measure communications effectiveness
Write and edit a variety of messages including emails, intranet articles, blog posts, video scripts and marketing materials
Evaluate and assess current processes and procedures to streamline work and improve efficiencies
Act as a liaison between communications and other functions in order to effectively gather information that will support communications initiatives and objectives
strategy with a consistent, compelling narrative for publication on internal and external channels.
Coordinate as a strategic partner on change and related milestones. This includes diversity and inclusion, company culture/values, employee experience/employer brand and employee learning
Support execution of a strategic communications plan inclusive of internal and external channels that focuses on sharing the ways in which the organization and its people-focused achievements, people strategy, company culture/values and other topics to support the company as a great place to work.
Collaborate with key stakeholders on Diversity and Inclusion communications strategy and provide input with a specific focus on the people and business strategy and company values
Ensure the company's Global Diversity and Inclusion priorities are represented in people and culture communications.
Qualifications:
8-10 years of communications experience - in house or agency, at least some of which is corporate and/or executive communications (journalism or elsewhere to be considered based on relevant capabilities)
Strong communications skills across the board - strong media relations skills a plus (and ideally a strong network), very strong copywriting and editing skills, keen digital content generation and social media management
Experience in developing and delivering critical communications plans - successful candidates should be able to demonstrate successful outcomes from communications activities where they have conceptualized, developed and executed a communications plan
Experience working across various regions and/or territories is ideal but not essential
Understanding of financial communications/disclosure
Outstanding presentation/advisory skills - clear, concise thinking and sufficient gravitas to deliver advice to company/function leaders on communications strategy in a timely fashion
Strong project management skills - can work in a methodical and rigorous manner but equally in a fast-paced environment
Ability to make an impact - self-starter with ability to make their mark in an evolving environment
Phenomenal teammate - low ego, with willingness to jump in as needed on anything
