We Make Life More Rewarding and Dignified Location : Libertyville Department : Law Summary The Privacy Specialist helps to support the implementation of the Data Protection & Privacy Program for Hollister globally, providing their deep privacy expertise to strengthen our programs, ensure compliance with applicable laws, and to elevate the program through executing best practices. This involves collaborating with stakeholders in legal, human resources, IT, cybersecurity, clinical affairs, R&D and customer service, among others. Responsibilities Applying a working knowledge of global data privacy requirements and industry frameworks to develop privacy strategies at Hollister to ensure we meet our obligations related to existing laws and emerging requirements, with a focus on US Privacy laws (including state privacy laws and HIPAA) Acting as a member of a team of privacy experts ensuring privacy compliance across the company and supporting global initiatives Work closely with business teams to incorporate privacy by design principles, design policies/processes and evaluate the impact of privacy laws and enforcement actions upon the Privacy Program Develop and conduct privacy trainings across Hollister and its subsidiaries Work collaboratively with client teams, IT, cybersecurity, human resources, legal and other key stakeholders to appropriately document privacy compliance by preparing and updating privacy documentation (e.g. website privacy policies, employee and customer notices, data protection impact assessments, data processing inventory (ROPA), internal policies, etc.) Draft, update and negotiate data processing agreements with vendors Work closely with IT and cybersecurity teams in responding to potential security incidents, client and consumer requests regarding personal data and/or confidential information Identify, track and report on key privacy metrics to drive continuous improvement Oversee company-wide data mapping activities and prepare record of processing Support privacy impact assessments and governance reviews Other duties as required Work Experience Requirements Number of Overall Years Necessary: 5-8 A minimum of 3 years of privacy and data protection experience preferred Experience in data privacy, protection, governance and related fields required Knowledgeable in US State Privacy Laws, such as CCPA, and US Federal Privacy Law such as HIPAA Education Requirements Bachelor's degree required Relevant Privacy Certification is a plus (e.g., CIPP-US, CIPP-EU, CIPM), but not required Juris Doctor degree is a plus, but not required Specialized Skills/Technical Knowledge Prior experience supporting and/or operationalizing US comprehensive privacy laws and US laws regulating sensitive personal data is required Familiarity with global privacy requirements, such as GDPR, is preferred Experience in healthcare field is preferred Strong analytical skills to assess privacy risks and develop mitigation strategies Ability to manage competing priorities and effectively work across cross-functional teams to drive positive change Excellent written and communication skills Experience supporting an international business is preferred, but not required Fluent in English, knowledge of another language is a plus About Hollister Incorporated Hollister Incorporated is an independent, employee-owned company that develops, manufactures and markets healthcare products worldwide. The anticipated base salary range for this position is $90,000 - $95,000. The actual salary varies based on applicant's location, education, experience, skills, abilities, and other legitimate business factors. This position is also eligible to participate in the Hollister Corporate Bonus Plan. The Company also provides a unique Benefit of Employee Share Ownership Program (BESOP) program based on earnings and length of service.
