POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Operates and maintains UH hospitals, ambulatory clinical locations, and central plants, operational locations building equipment to ensure continuous control over the environmental elements necessary for good patient/staff care; critical spaces, temperature/humidity control, utility services, equipment/facility rounds, pneumatic tube system, cold storage units, water purity and the proper functioning of life sustaining apparatus. May make repairs as needed to equipment in all mechanical rooms.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED required. Completion of high school vocational curriculum with an emphasis on mechanical skills is preferred. At least two years’ experience in facilities maintenance work, inclusive of “hands on” preventive and corrective repairs for equipment such as chillers, boilers, pumps, air handlers, facility management systems, pneumatic and electronic controls, fans, motors, pumps, water softeners, and associated equipment is preferred. The ability to speak, read, and write English, make simple calculations, and follow simple written and oral directions is required

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
A valid Texas State driver’s license “Class C” and must maintain a clean Motor Vehicle Record and insurable by University Health.
