Position Summary: The Radiation Oncology Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day management of their assigned department and will report directly to the Director of Radiation Oncology. The supervisor ensures the delivery of high quality, accurate, and safe radiation oncology care. The supervisor will provide oversight of all clerical and clinical staff members, will be able to perform all job duties within his/her scope, and fill in as needed. Responsibilities
Maintains quality patient care by compliance with accepted standards of practice. Oversees the patient treatment schedule for efficiency and accurate daily reconciliation of charges. Establishes professional attitudes toward patients through leadership and personal example. Ensures compliance with and proper interpretation of hospital policies. Reviews patient experience results and participates in the development of action plans for improvement in collaboration with staff and physicians. Responsible for ordering and maintaining department supplies. Provides staff supervision and leadership of all operating teams including nursing, front desk operations, insurance authorization, and therapy. Performs annual performance evaluations and ensures clinical competencies are up to date. Maintains professional demeanor when resolving staff issues and resolutions with intra and interdepartmental conflict. Evaluates, trains, and measures clinical performance standards for the affiliated radiation therapy students within TCSC Radiation Oncology departments. Advises and directs therapists in new and difficult treatment procedures. Performs essential job functions of a Radiation Therapist when necessary. Completes Kronos timecard schedules, edits, and comments. Schedules and monitors employee work assignments for department staff to ensure adequate coverage for the clinic. Collaborates with other radiation oncology supervisors and leadership in scheduling float staff to locations with greatest need. Staffs within productivity guidelines minimizing overtime to high volume or staff shortage. Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Minimum Education: Associate’s Degree Minimum Experience: A minimum of four (4) years' experience as a Radiation Therapist is required, including at least two (2) years oncology experience and one (1) year in which management and leadership abilities have been demonstrated. Must have comprehensive knowledge of radiation therapy technology and operations. Licensure Requirement: Must be currently registered as a Radiation Therapy Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
