General Function: Fifth Third Securities provides issuers and investors with the tools they need to manage capital and investment needs. The trading team provides Primary and Secondary market liquidity in specified market sectors. The Managing Director, Fixed Income Trading is a leadership role that supports the ABS team through the trading & hedging of positions, and servicing Fifth Third clients. The role will directly report to the Managing Director of Trading or the Head of FICC Trading. Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Trading Responsible for trading and risk management activity for one or more industry sectors Lead the formulation of trading strategies Trade fixed income securities in support of Institutional and Retail Sales representatives Balance, reconcile and manage inventory positions within policy limits Provide pricing and valuation on fixed income transactions and inventory Process trades on clearing systems in a timely manner and ensure transactions adhere to FTS compliance standards File appropriate regulatory reports on timely basis, as needed Maintain awareness around relevant news/market events/regulatory changes that may impact pricing, hedging, risk strategies, etc. Develop and maintain working relationships with internal partners such as compliance and risk management and work with the Managing Director, Head of FICC Trading as needed to meet requests from partners Responsible for informing manager and Head of Trading on all issues that may impact the business or create operational inefficiencies May oversee trading staff (when appropriate) and assist with the development of associate traders Maintain oversight and ensure transactions adhere to high industry standards Business Development Provide secondary market liquidity for clients (Investors) while maintaining client relationships with active ABS market participants (e.g., Insurance Companies, Asset Managers, Pension Funds, etc.) Provide product training to Institutional and Retail sales executives through formal training sessions and/or informal daily communications Maintain knowledge of prior transactions to identify opportunities with existing accounts given changes in interest rates or broader market conditions Participate in strategy sessions, process improvement projects, market update calls (internal and external), as needed Maintain active dialogue with Issuers to keep them abreast of their current pricing, overall market, and establish a communication cadence with all current and potential issuers Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external partners Work closely with the Global Head of FICC to create and complete new product initiatives and bring new business ideas to the forefront Develop and maintain relationships with other dealers and liquidity providers, as needed Drive general FTS strategic initiatives Supervisory Responsibilities Create and sustain a positive and supportive team environment through words and deeds Ensure that the people, strategy, and organizational capabilities are aligned to the overall business strategy Measure the department's employees by assisting in establishing performance standards and comparing actual performance against those standards Develop and mentor team members through timely and candid feedback regarding performance, career growth, opportunities, etc. Provide input into staffing, performance ratings, and salary recommendations, as requested Actively engage in new employee and graduate recruitment, training and other human-capital related processes Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Licenses: Securities Industry Essentials (SIE), Series 7, Series 63 required Minimum of 10+ years of relevant experience in fixed income or other markets Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Math, or MBA degree Proven track record of success in working as a part of a team to originate and close complex financial transactions Leadership experience and history of involvement in key decisions around growing a financial services business Possesses mathematical knowledge to manage market risk related to Fixed Income markets Proficient in the use of relevant software packages Bloomberg, MS Excel, Intex, T-REX Strong mentoring and leadership skills At Fifth Third Bank, we understand the importance of rewarding our employees for their hard work and dedication, therefore, our Total Rewards offering includes a differentiated compensation package and comprehensive benefits.
