We have an exciting opportunity for a Section Manager - ISS/Vehicle, Robotics & Simulation Engineering Services to join the team!
The Section Manager - ISS/Vehicle, Robotics & Simulation Engineering Services will:
Report directly to the Spacecraft Analysis, Software, & Services Group Manager. The position is responsible for the direct management of approximately 45 JETS employees supporting multiple NASA Engineering divisions (ER, ES, and EA).
Provide guidance in support of ISS robotics products and services and the development of hardware and software robotics requirements.
Provide guidance for ISS Mission Evaluation Room engineering services in support of mission operations for ECLSS, FCS, Robotics, and Structures and Mechanism consoles.
Provide guidance for robotics analysis for visiting vehicle capture, berthing, and release operations.
Provide guidance for robotics integration and simulation for System Engineering Simulation lab in performing simulation updates and supporting crew simulation training for ISS and Orion Programs.
Provide guidance for Software Robotics Workstation System task in performing stage test runs for software updates to the ISS robotics system to support mission specific operations.
Ensure employees in functional areas follow established procedures and generate finished work products under time and budgetary constraints and ensures products yield the expected outcome and established quality levels. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Coordinate the creation and revision of task orders.
Ensure projects are adequately staffed across multiple NASA divisions and departments.
Perform routine project reviews for cost, schedule, risk management, and deliverable adherence.
Maintain active risk management (technical, cost, and schedule) on all projects and work functions.
Communicate project status to senior management.
Approve time cards and travel.
Document and perform personnel performance reviews.
Establish measurable employee goals and objectives.
Coordinate issues across multiple JETS organizations which could include source limitations, technical challenges, process breakdowns, etc.
Establish a framework and oversight for technical correctness on all work performed by section.
Provide rough orders of magnitude (ROM's) and basis of estimates (BOE's) for project and tasks.
Perform other duties as required.

Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Engineering and normally possess 5-10 years of related experience. License and certification may be required
Previous project management experience.
Must be able to perform management duties associated with approximately 45 people.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with a history of effectively interacting with senior managers at all levels.
Must be proactive, responsive and show great initiative.
Experience with task order contracts.
Experience in developing schedules, budgets, and project plans.
Preferences:
Fifteen (15) years of direct experience with NASA/JSC.
Experience with EVR and Crew systems hardware and robotics systems development efforts.
Experience with robotics system integration experience.
Experience with experience with Mission Evaluation Room.
Experience with experience Systems Engineering.

Physical Requirements
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Attendance
Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
