SENIOR GRANT ADMINISTRATOR
to coordinate our IRB function as well as work on the Pre and Post Grant award process. This position is uniquely suited to someone with a background in either the grant awarding or the IRB function looking to broaden their experience. PRIMARY/PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage the IRB function which includes maintenance and use of the IRBNet. Working with staff, faculty and students, provide training and orientation. Interpret and apply federal and state laws, regulations, institutional policies and guidelines to protect human subjects and ensure institutional compliance. Screen and triage all new, renewal and modification to human subject research applications. Independently determine level of review required. Manage and maintain all IRB correspondence related to applications, reviews, meetings and external sponsor and governmental requests. Provide Pre and Post Award Grant service to the Suffolk University community. Assist P.I’s with applications and review and manage the associated budgeting and financial reports associated with Grants and Contracts. Work closely with Staff, Faculty and Students to ensure successful completion of grants. This may include negotiation of contracts, maintenance of documentation and reviewing of cost transfers and expenditures. Increase and promote institutional knowledge related to the IRB and research grants and contracts administration and management. REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of five years professional experience in IRB administrative capacity or sponsored programs management role in an academic or equivalent setting. Advanced degree preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of all relevant OHRP rules and regulations related to human subject research. Must be committed to providing the highest level of customer service and responsiveness to the research community specifically, and the university as a whole. Ability to work both as an individual contributor and as part of a team. Demonstrated experience with pre- and post- award research management with a wide variety of funding mechanisms including grants, contracts, subcontracts, and cooperative agreements. Must have the ability to understand, interpret and apply university policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations as mandated by OHRP and applicable sponsors to IRB protocols, grants, contracts, cooperative agreements, sub-awards and subcontracts. Advanced computer skills and familiarity with MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook), as well as with electronic sponsored programs service systems (e.g., NSF Fastlane, Grants.gov, and NIH Commons).
