The purpose of the Business Systems Architect Principal Technologist role is to lead transformative IT Service Delivery strategy design and road mapping for Enterprise IT Systems division and drive the development and execution of standards and technical roadmaps for General Business Applications department. This is a pivotal role that will be a catalyst for EITS division's success in the realization of technical infrastructure upgrade business objectives, especially for critical mainframe systems. The Business Systems Architect Principal Technologist will establish and align internal strategic partnerships across AHM and HDMA spanning US, Mexico, Canada and Japan in addition to cultivating and strengthening strategic partnerships with external industry leading IT service providers. The Business Systems Architect Principal Technologist has the responsibility to provide strategic counsel to Enterprise IT Service Division decision makers to identify, recommend, develop, implement and support cost-effective IT Service Delivery solutions and services for all aspects of the organization. This role will also consult with external industry leading providers to define service infrastructure standards, policies, procedures, best practices and target state as it relates to both on-prem and cloud-based services and applications supported by General Business Application department. The Principal Engineer will help ensure that GBA Department's systems are robust, scalable, and aligned with AHM IT's mission and goals by: Ensuring that emergent design of system architectures within General Business department (e.g. Time & Labor, HR, Corporate Security, Trade & Compliance etc.) remains aligned with AHM IT's strategic roadmaps Providing the technical vision and leadership necessary to guide the ideation, development and co-existence of GBA IT platforms with rest of the AHM ecosystem Taking responsibility for seamless growth, integration and overall integrity of the IT infrastructure supporting GBA department Identifying and analyzing desired processes and outcomes, advising on the best combination of IT systems and components to achieve specific business goals as set forth in AHM IT's approved annual business plans Assisting department manager with effective utilization of resources and budgets Collaborating with Honda Japan on matters involving Global IT Creating secure and innovative development value streams, detecting vulnerabilities, and addressing potential disruptions BEFORE they cause negative impact to the AHM IT's business stakeholders such as American Honda (AHM), Honda Manufacturing (HDMA), Honda Mexico (HDM), Honda Canada (HCM and CH), Honda Aircraft (HACI) and other regional companies. Key Accountabilities

Create solution, design, and oversee implementation of end-to-end integrated systems to fit long-term strategic and short-term tactical goals of Honda's architecture standards/direction. Abide with Application Architecture, Systems Architecture and Solution Architecture processes (onboarding, engagement, exceptions, reviews, etc.), constantly strive for personal improvement and customer satisfaction. Document existing systems architecture and technology portfolio during product design. Make recommendations for improvements and/or alternatives. Provide architectural consulting expertise, direction, and assistance to solution. Lead the strategy design, development, implementation, and maintenance of complex data systems and solutions in the cloud architects and other architects. Maintain in-depth knowledge of company's strategic business plans. Have ongoing collaboration with business stakeholders such as HR, Trade Compliance, Corporate Security etc and stay informed on the business direction. He/she will also participate in the annual IT summit process and development of the AHM IT's policy tree recommending high value projects and products for implementation. Develop and deliver long-term strategic goals for solution architecture vision; define and maintain solution catalogue- He/she will understand the current state, develop a vision of the future state (both short-term and long term) and script incremental changes which will help GBA platforms get from current to future state. Since GBA department supports a wide range of customers across several business domains, a solution catalogue, prepared in a user-friendly format will help our business partners identify available GBA services and understand their features and benefits. Conduct innovation activities to sense, study, test, and implement new technologies- In the GBA department, we have a sizable load of legacy applications (some more than 20 years old), among other challenges. One of the immediate goals of the Systems Architect will be to help teams modernize mainframe systems (such as those in the Trade and Customs compliance area) through a combination of replat forming, rewriting and/or code refactoring techniques. Serve as a liaison with vendors and service providers to select the products or services that best meet company goals. Workstyle

Education:

An undergraduate (BA / BS level) degree or diploma in computer science, information systems, or computer engineering. Desired Certifications (any):

AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Solutions Architect-Professional, Service Now Certified Application Developer, ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity Other key qualifying requirements: 12 or more years of overall progressive experience in working with systems and solution architecture and developing reference architecture, principles and standards for enterprise IT. 10 or more years of hands-on experience with solution definition for large-scale projects and business requirements gathering/analysis 8 or more years knowledge and experience with emerging technology (Container, DevOps and Hyperconverged) 5 or more years' experience working with Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform services Demonstrated experience with automation to deploy and management of infrastructure (Ansible, Cloud formation, Python, Chef. Puppet and other language). Experience working in an agile environment (e.g. Scaled Agile/SAFe) is highly desirable Impressive understanding of typical multi-tier architectures: web servers, caching, application servers, load balancers, and storage Working knowledge of HR business processes Familiarity and working knowledge of IT systems such as SAP SuccessFactors, ServiceNow, UKG Workforce Management, Contract Lifecycle Management, Lenel, InfoArchive etc. Expert-level knowledge of Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) and NoSQL databases Knowledge of message queuing and Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) Knowledge of containerization technologies - especially Red Hat OpenShift - and microservices architectural style Demonstrated expertise working in a global IT service delivery model Familiarity with loose coupling and stateless systems Knowledge of RESTful Web Services, XML, JSON Experience with the software development lifecycle and DevOps Experience with business requirements analysis Experience with Big Data platforms, including Cloudera, HortonWorks, etc. Familiarity with advanced data analytics technologies, tools, and frameworks, including AI, ML/DL Work experience with information and application security concepts, mechanisms, and tools Good knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws Experience in defining large-scale distributed systems architecture Experience with system performance tuning Information and application security concepts including public key encryption, remote access, access credentials, and certificate-based authentication Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization and work with diverse project teams Lead by Example: Build strong morale, team success, and positive feedback, and mentoring Ability to mentor, train and develop cloud infrastructure administrators and engineers Temper technology design and architecture processes with business sense to make appropriate decisions Excellent verbal communication skills; Strong visual presentation skills.
