NEPC is looking for an Investment Analyst or Director to join the Operational Due Diligence (ODD) team. This is a growth hire. The ODD team is responsible for identifying operational (non-investment) risk factors that may impact an investment manager’s future performance and help clients mitigate those factors. The ODD team does this by reviewing key investment manager and fund documents, conducting onsite meetings with senior management of investment managers, running background checks, verifying information gathered with third-party service providers, synthesizing the results in written reports, and highlighting key risks to clients. The investment managers and funds that we review can run the full spectrum from legacy, institutional and well-organized investment managers, to startup investment managers that have few processes in place and numerous operational risks. Our team works independently from the Investment Due Diligence team and holds veto power to reject any fund. We currently focus on evaluating hedge fund strategies though we are planning on expanding our responsibilities into private markets strategies. We often review other investment managers and strategies as needed and undertake special projects for our clients. Key Responsibilities:

Conduct operational due diligence reviews on hedge fund and private markets strategies. Lead onsite meetings with senior management of investment managers to assess their capabilities and the suitability of the strategy for NEPC clients. Review and analyze legal, financial, and other documentation related to the strategies. Manage ongoing monitoring projects across asset classes. Document meetings and research findings in our investment manager database. Ensure that all hedge fund manager information in our database is current and accurate. Participate in discussions between ODD team and investment due diligence colleagues explaining findings of ODD reviews. Provide internal updates on due diligence findings in the investment manager community. Provide written reports on specific investment strategies. NEPC’s research team is a fast-paced environment. Each analyst interacts with professionals inside and outside the firm, including clients and some of the world’s leading investment managers. Job Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or related field and prior investment/finance-related experience. Master’s Degree, CFA or CAIA designation desirable but not required. Working knowledge of investment manager operations, especially hedge funds or private equity funds (both direct investing and funds of funds). Excellent written and verbal communication skills and report-writing capability. High degree of computer proficiency preferred. Must be detail oriented, able to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline oriented, multiple-task environment. NEPC is a strong advocate of promotion from within, so excellent potential exists for professional growth. We offer a competitive salary, bonus and full benefits including profit sharing and 401(k) plans. Company Background:
