The Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing (VP) is a role that requires a creative, strategic, and energetic leader. Reporting directly to the president, the VP is the chief enrollment officer and chief communications officer for the institution, playing a critical role in shaping the University’s future. The VP will possess the ability to develop a dynamic and data-informed vision for the enrollment management division, including student success and support services, recruitment targets, and the ability to inspire and motivate the admissions and marketing teams. The VP must also engage personally with students, parents, high schools, non-traditional students, and other external constituencies, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and a desire to partner with all areas across campus. The VP must possess strong analytical abilities and be able to drive prospective student engagement and enrollment planning. They must articulate the strengths and values of Missouri Western to St. Joseph and the greater Kansas City metropolitan area with integrated marketing across channels, deliver the university brand, coordinate media relations, internal communications, and social media. The VP should also take an active role in the recruitment processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Develop and implement a strategic enrollment management plan aligned with strategic marketing and communications campaigns to promote the University, focusing on traditional, adult, and part-time undergraduate students. Create, implement, assess, and revise enrollment guidelines and goals based on enrollment strategies for undergraduate and graduate programs; establish predictive data indicators for regular evaluation. Work collaboratively with senior leaders to plan, prioritize, and deliver achievable projects and programs that advance the University’s long-term vision and enhance enrollment. Oversee the creative team that provides creative assets for deployment in a competitive marketplace. Develop and facilitate strong partnerships with other schools and public and private entities that can yield well-prepared transfer students or workforce development opportunities. Manage communications, internally and externally, including media relations and public image, and provide support to University leadership. Oversee implementation of best practices with respect to new student orientation. Assist in identifying, developing, and implementing student retention initiatives. Take a leadership role in the procurement of grants that support student engagement and success. Develop and foster communication with students, parents, faculty, community agencies, alumni, and the general public to address student concerns. Guide, promote, and establish partnerships with external parties for access to university facilities to attract more activity and exposure to campus. Enhance efforts to build a diverse, inclusive, and equitable community. Oversee the hiring and evaluation of professional and non-professional staff, and provide opportunities for the development of professionals in the division for personnel sustainability and growth. Responsible for division budget management, oversight, and resource allocations. Supervise employees and serve on committees as appropriate for institutional needs. Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of workings of university structure, academic programs, policies, and procedures. Knowledge of technology relevant to recruitment, admissions, financial aid, and enrollment management. Expertise in current enrollment management practices. Leadership, supervision, planning, and organization skills including team building, strategic planning, and continuous quality improvement. Effective written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate complex ideas clearly, concisely, and persuasively. Ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies across the University and the community. Ability to operate independently and collaboratively with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders. Strong time management skills; ability to handle multiple tasks with accuracy while adhering to tight deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook) and ability to operate other web-based platforms for situational awareness, information management, and mass notification.

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in any academic discipline. Significant higher education enrollment management experience. Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Valid Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications

PhD in Public Relations or Administration, Communication, Marketing, or other related area. Slate experience. Banner experience.

Additional Demands

Hours of Work

M-F 8:00am-4:30pm.
