Description The Sr. Director, Data, Record Management and Privacy Compliance will have primary responsibility for ensuring that the company complies with best practices regarding data management, protection, privacy, and record management. This role will involve developing, implementing, and monitoring data management compliance programs and controls to safeguard sensitive information and maintain the integrity of data management processes. In addition, the role will be responsible for creating and implementing communication and training plans to educate the broader organization on these topics. The role is also expected to stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes to proactively adapt compliance strategies as well as to mitigate new emerging risks in the areas of data management and protection. Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, this role will work closely with Legal and Compliance, Human Resources, Zoetis Tech & Digital, Information Security and Risk Management & Compliance, Internal Audit, and will have supervisory responsibility for the Corporate Counsel, Privacy. Responsibilities Regulatory Compliance: leadership and strategic oversight of the Privacy Program, including evolving the program to address business needs. Ensure adherence to laws which govern data privacy and security. Respond to data breaches or privacy incidents, including investigating and reporting as required by law. Oversee the organization's record retention policies to ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of data.
Risk Assessment: Conduct regular reviews of data and records to (1) ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations and (2) identify potential privacy risks and vulnerabilities in data handling practices.
Education and Awareness: Provide training and support to employees on data privacy and record management best practices.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with Zoetis Tech & Digital to assess risks associated with data handling and ensure appropriate controls are in place, and to establish frameworks for data quality, integrity, and accountability across the organization.
Policy Development: Create and implement data management policies and procedures that align with legal requirements.
Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes to proactively adapt compliance strategies.
Incident Management: Oversee the investigation and resolution of compliance-related incidents, ensuring proper documentation and corrective actions are taken.
Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Law, Business Administration, or a related field. At least 12 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years specific experience in data, record management, and privacy compliance. Strong knowledge of data protection regulations and industry standards. Technical Skill Requirements Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex regulations to non-technical stakeholders. Proficient in data management software and tools. Certifications such as Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) or Certified Records Manager (CRM) are a plus. Physical Position Requirements Hybrid working environment, with approximately 50% of time (2-3 work days per week) required on-site in Parsippany, NJ headquarters. Ability to travel domestically or internationally 10-20% of the time. Frequent work with global teams located in multiple time zones.
