Job Responsibilities: Reporting to the Executive Director, Communications Johns Hopkins Medicine (JHM), the Director, Entity Communications has oversight of the overall management and implementation of communications for a specific entity or hospital within JHM. This position will lead a robust, integrated and strategic communications program to elevate awareness and positioning of the entity to help protect and bolster the reputation of Johns Hopkins Medicine. The role will manage a multidisciplinary, diverse team and leverage the skills and capabilities of the overall JHM Communications department to integrate, grow and measure impact of strategic external and internal communications plans and strategies that align with the mission, objectives and management goals of the communications function as well as Johns Hopkins Medicine more broadly. This person in this role will have the ability to navigate incoming issues and provide rapid response and strategic crisis communications to mitigate reputational impact. This position assesses and develops new programs and campaigns, analyzes and evaluates team performance outcomes, and recommends changes to optimize performance, employee engagement, diversity initiatives and the organization's competitive position. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in public relations, communications, journalism, or related field required. Master's degree preferred. Minimum 8 years' related experience required, including 3 years at a leadership level. Top quality mastery of communications, including exemplary written communications skills. Specific knowledge of communications principles and practices, market research and analysis, strategic planning, crisis communications best practices, and program development required. Demonstrated knowledge in creating, implementing and measuring strategic communications plans and measurement techniques. Advanced knowledge related to implementation, engagement and deployment of relevant shared marketing and communications expert services, functions and tools (such as social media, websites, media relations, content development, webinars/events, video production, graphic design, employee communications, etc.) necessary to collaborate with other specialized areas of the institutional communications and marketing teams to implement plans and strategies.
