JOB SUMMARY The Assistant Vice President for Marketing and Digital oversees a broad range of marketing and digital activities in support of growing the brand reputation and bringing new digital marketing innovations to UT Southwestern to drive the institution forward. This position will manage an integrated team of professionals and work closely with other marketing and communication colleagues across the institution, including the Health System, all four schools, and other affiliates and lines of business. This role maintains a collaborative working relationship with institution leaders, faculty-physicians, and region-based administrative partners.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Job Duties

Strategic Planning:

Develop and execute strategic marketing plans that augment UT Southwestern's education, research, and clinical care initiatives and build brand awareness and loyalty.

Digital Marketing Leadership:

Oversee digital marketing campaigns, including SEO, SEM, email marketing, and other online channels. Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure a competitive edge.

Communication Skills:

Effectively communicate with the leadership team and other stakeholders. Present a compelling vision that showcases the tripartite mission (educate, discover, and heal) and the future of marketing and digital within the institution.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

Collaborate and communicate with other departments across UT Southwestern to ensure alignment of marketing strategies with overall business objectives.

Data-Driven Decision Making:

Leverage analytics and data to measure the effectiveness of campaigns and content to optimize strategies and report key performance indicators to senior leadership.

Team Leadership:

Build and lead high-performing marketing and digital teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. Provide guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for team members.

Budget Management:

Develop and manage the marketing and digital budgets, allocating resources effectively to maximize ROI.

Market Research:

Stay informed about market trends, competitor activities, and patient/user preferences. Use insights to identify new opportunities and refine marketing strategies.

Interactive and Technology Integration:

Innovate based on new trends, platforms, and technologies to update owned properties, inbound/outbound systems, mobile, digital media, and brand/direct response campaigns.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

Required

Education Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Advertising, Business, or related degree.

Experience 10 years leading a Marketing and/or Communications team.

Preferred

Education Master's Degree in a related field.

Experience Experience in academic medicine is strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

In-depth knowledge of health care systems and academic medicine marketing, communication, and web strategies to support business and mission priorities.

Excellent interpersonal, written, oral communication, and listening skills necessary to interface with various levels of management.

Ability to establish strategic direction and commit to long-range goals and short-term initiatives after analyzing factual information and assumptions.

Strong understanding of analytical and financial management principles and operating budgets; possess organizational effectiveness competencies to estimate, plan, and track budgets and manage contracting and vendor negotiation processes.

Experience in crisis communications and change management principles.

Demonstrated facilitation, negotiation, and networking skills and ability to think strategically; possess leadership effectiveness.

Ability to work at a fast pace, prioritize multiple activities, and respond in a timely manner to numerous requests in a complex, highly collaborative environment. Self-starter with the ability to manage complex group processes with excellent negotiation, conflict resolution, and collaboration.
