EXS/10 Job Summary: The Health Disparities and Public Policy program in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences is conducting the Northwestern Juvenile Project: a 30-year longitudinal research study of the needs and outcomes of youth in juvenile detention as they age. Participants were originally sampled from a juvenile detention center as adolescents between 1995-1998, now median age 43. Three- to four-hour structured interviews as well as qualitative interviews are conducted 7 days a week in participants' homes across the Chicagoland area, in correctional facilities, and via Zoom or phone when participants live too far away to be interviewed in person. Interviewers conduct cognitive assessments and collect biospecimens. Multiple types of interviews and interview waves, with separate funding streams, varying participant eligibility criteria, and unique interview protocols are ongoing. This position will work with a veteran and multidisciplinary research team to monitor project operations, ensure the quality and integrity of interview and record data collection, ensure ethical field practices, efficient inter-team communication and productivity, set up data structures, and ensure thorough documentation of data and project operations. They will monitor adherence of data collection protocols to study goals; draft progress reports; and provide expertise in data management, quality assurance, analysis and reporting. They will produce and summarize reports on the efficiency and productivity of project teams using existing REDCap and Oracle databases, manage APEX (database user interface) programming, and propose best practice solutions to persistent problems. They will manage projects ensuring timelines and deliverables are met and meet expectations. They will supervise project team leaders: Interviewer Supervisor, Liaison Coordinator, and Tracking Supervisor. This role is a hybrid position, with at least 3 days required in-office on Northwestern's Chicago campus. Specific Responsibilities: Strategic Planning Manages and plans for data/analysis requests and projects. Provides consultation to customers on appropriate data management, methodological issues and statistical analyses. Collaborates with technical staff explaining needs of functional users. Administration Reviews reports before presentation to ensure quality and accuracy. Develops and maintains documentation of process for quality assurance and reporting methodology. Defines, develops and communicates new standards and best practices. Development Develops queries and quality metrics. Interprets results using a variety of techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation via statistical analysis to complex statistical analysis. Determines data structure for local datasets. Performance Develops and documents standards for data quality and regulatory compliance pertaining to reporting. Ensures quality and compliance by reviewing reports. Supervises Provides work direction and/or supervises staff such as team members, subordinates, contractors, vendors, students, etc. Recommends staff hires/terminations. Coaches and mentors staff. Manages projects ensuring timelines and deliverables are met and meet expectations. Miscellaneous Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience. 4 years data analysis/report writing or similar experience required. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
