What We Need The Director of Trust and Safety will lead a team focused on building and maintaining trust with our global gaming community. This individual will be responsible for developing and executing policies, systems, and procedures that promote player safety, data privacy, and compliance with evolving regulatory standards. They will also need to build cross-functional coalitions across both publishing and our studios to effectively implement these policies. This role requires a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach who can navigate the nuances between user safety, data privacy, and commercial needs. What You’ll Do Strategic Leadership and Compliance ○ Develop, lead, and refine a comprehensive trust and safety strategy that addresses both current and future risks in user protection, data privacy, and compliance. ○ Monitor global regulatory developments in data privacy and trust & safety (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, COPPA, OSA, DSA, etc.) and drive compliance strategies that ensure adherence for an appropriate player experience. ○ Partner closely with legal, compliance, and data governance teams to ensure alignment implementation and prioritization of the latest standards, regulations, and best practices. ○ Partner with product departments and studios to translate these global standards into practical feature requests and development roadmaps for our games and out-of-game experiences. Operational Oversight ○ Oversee the implementation of safety systems and processes that prevent harassment, data breaches, fraud, and other malicious activities in our gaming ecosystem. ○ Conduct regular reviews of 2K’s trust & safety practices, reporting on the effectiveness of the measures and processes adopted to manage and mitigate trust & safety risks. ○ Establish and manage KPIs for trust and safety metrics; measure effectiveness, identify risks, and continuously improve our programs. ○ Lead initial crisis management within 2K and collaborate with Legal on incidents related to trust and safety, providing rapid, effective responses to protect user interests. Cross-Functional Collaboration ○ Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and marketing teams to balance trust & safety initiatives with growth objectives, ensuring compliance and safety are integral to product development. ○ Partner with analytics and player support to gather insights on player behavior, trust, sentiment, and emerging risks, using these insights to inform policies and processes. Team Leadership and Development ○ Lead and mentor a high-performing team of trust & safety specialists, ensuring each team member has the resources, training, and support needed to excel. ○ Foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation to keep the team ahead of emerging challenges in the trust and safety space. ○ Build a scalable structure that aligns with our company’s growth and ensures proactive risk management. Player Advocacy and Communication ○ Serve as the internal advocate for player safety, championing initiatives that promote a secure and positive experience for our gaming community. ○ Manage external communications related to trust and safety, including policy updates, incident responses, and player education campaigns on privacy and safety best practices. What Will Make You A Great Fit 7+ years of experience in trust & safety, compliance, data privacy, or a related field, ideally within the gaming, tech, or digital entertainment industry. In-depth knowledge of working within applicable trust & safety regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, COPPA, OSA, DSA, etc.) and experience working within complex regulatory environments. Proven track record of balancing regulatory requirements with commercial objectives, ideally in high-growth or fast-paced environments. Experience building and leading trust and safety or compliance teams, with a strong emphasis on mentorship, growth, and team culture. Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence and partner with stakeholders across all levels of the organization. Strategic mindset, with the ability to see the big picture while managing detailed and data-driven execution. The pay range for this position in California at the start of employment is expected to be between $183,800 and $272,000 per Year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an 'at-will position' and the company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
