What You Will Do :
Prepare and process biological samples (e.g., blood products, tissue, DNA, RNA) according to established protocols and guidelines. Perform tasks such as aliquoting, centrifugation, and cryopreservation of biospecimens. Operate automated liquid handling equipment designed to assist in sample processing.
Ensure that all samples are handled and stored in compliance with regulatory standards and internal protocols. Conduct routine quality control checks and maintain accurate records of sample conditions and processing details.
Accurately enter and manage sample data in the biobank database. Perform data entry, verification, and ensure data integrity through regular audits.
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including centrifuges, freezers, and automated systems. Perform routine calibration and troubleshooting as needed.
Adhere to all laboratory safety protocols and regulatory requirements, including those related to biosafety and data protection standards.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Work closely with other laboratory staff and researchers to coordinate sample collection, processing, and distribution. Provide support and training to new team members as required.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all laboratory activities, including sample logs, quality control results, and equipment maintenance records.
After hours emergency support may be needed in the event of an equipment failure or similar event.
What You Will Need :
Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry, or related fields.
A minimum of TWO (2) years of experience in laboratory research.
Proficiency in laboratory skills and equipment.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent data entry and computer skills.
Familiarity with biospecimen handling and storage procedures.
Understanding of laboratory safety standards and regulatory requirements.
Must be able to stand and/or sit for lengthy periods to include, but not limited to, processing of specimens within a laminar flow hood, operation of instrumentation, and data analysis at a computer terminal.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
What Would Be Nice To Have :
Preferred laboratory research experience in biobank, clinical, or research setting.
Experience with automated laboratory equipment a plus.
Experience using laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and/or freezer monitoring systems a plus.
Previous experience with NIH preferred.
The annual salary range for this position is $75,800.00-$113,600.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
