Job Description:
We're looking for an experienced Senior Director of Engineering to join our ZPA team, reporting to the VPE. This is a hybrid work environment, going in to our San Jose, CA office 3 days a week.
We are looking for an accomplished Engineering Leader whose role will encompass multiple aspects of program delivery, technical leadership, and people management. This position includes responsibilities for providing overall leadership to the team, setting a direction for the team, ensuring all commitments are met. You will lead a Networking and systems team consisting of managers and individual contributors from the software engineering discipline. You will work with a team of engineers and architects and will be responsible for prototyping, designing, developing, and supporting a highly distributed and scalable SaaS-based cloud service product called ZPA (Zscaler Private Access).
Passionate about building a large-scale, best in class product with a focus on RASS - Reliability, Availability, Scalability and Security.
Drive quality process and trustworthy computing initiatives throughout the product lifecycle to eliminate architecture, design, and coding defects at the source.
Ensure performance, security, scale, reliability, operational and cost optimization criteria are met.
What We're Looking for (Minimum Qualifications)
10 + years of Engineering Management experience with a track record in managing (40+ members) Global Engineering teams.
10+ years of hands-on development experience including relevant experience developing networking and systems software products and solutions with experience in TCP/IP, SSL, Https, UDP, and networking protocols.
Experience in designing, developing, and maintaining a large code base with C programming language on a distributed software product architectures.
Expertise in architecture reviews related to features, performance and scalability of products.
Experience forging consensus on technical discussions including architectural and design guidelines, code reviews, release process, etc.
What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
Experience working cross-functionally with DevOps, QA, Product Management, and Support.
Experience with design / architectural patterns and automation platforms.
Good on Estimation Practices: Effort and Schedule.

Zscaler's salary ranges are benchmarked and are determined by role and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations and could be higher or lower based on a multitude of factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
The base salary range listed for this full-time position excludes commission/ bonus/ equity (if applicable) + benefits.
