About the Role This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic organization and drive fundraising across private and public channels for USES. The Grants Manager is an experienced fundraising professional focused on corporate, foundation, and government grant opportunities, and is a project manager with strong writing skills and a desire to build external relationships. This individual will work in collaboration with USES’s Program staff to develop a deep understanding of USES’s program model, its impact, and the successes of our participants. The person in this role will research trends in philanthropy and data relevant to our programs and outcomes, and will use Salesforce to manage a pipeline of corporate, foundation, and government funders and prospects. The Grants Manager will take responsibility for ambitious targets for revenue growth, collaborating with the Chief Development Officer to own and cultivate the relationships necessary to secure funding and achieve our goals. In joining our Development staff, there is an opportunity to work closely with a team of committed development and marketing professionals, and learn from the expertise of experienced mentors. The Grants Manager reports to and partners with the Chief Development Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to take a leadership role in grants management and external relationship-building, in partnership with a collaborative Development team. What You’ll Do Serve as the lead grant writer and oversee the grant management and reporting function of public, private foundation, and corporate grants, with a goal of securing $450,00 - $500,000+ in grant funding annually Develop and execute a corporate/foundation stewardship strategy with a focus on building strong, sustainable relationships with on-going touchpoints throughout the year Expand our pipeline of foundation and corporate prospects at the $25,000+ level, identifying and developing strategies for cultivating new prospects Research statistics, trends, and best practices to strengthen the case for USES’s model Partner with the Program team leadership and the Development and Communications Marketing Manager to ensure that proposal and report language remains up-to-date on program development, outcomes, and USES’s messaging Make recommendations and implement improvements and best practices to maximize the Development team’s use of Salesforce, our Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) system, with a focus on strategic management of corporate and foundation relationships and funding opportunities Serve as a representative of USES by attending community meetings, events at our partner organizations, civic gatherings, etc. To raise USES’s visibility and make connections to donors and prospects Develop relationships with USES program staff and participants to understand the impact of our programs and create content that spotlights our successes Engage community groups and corporate partners in days of service Attend USES fundraising events and program events such as graduations, health fairs, and arts and culture events (some nights and weekends will be required) Other tasks as assigned, including cross-training with other team members as needed What We’re Looking For: USES is seeking a development professional who has the experience, ambition, and mission alignment needed to drive the corporate, foundation, and government grants strategy for the Development team, including the following: Commitment to USES’s mission Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organization and time management skills Excellent attention to detail with the ability to multi-task Experience using Salesforce and/or comparable fundraising databases for grants management and relationship tracking Must be able to exercise sound judgment and confidentiality Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, take initiative, and be a self-starter Three or more years relevant experience with excellent references Ability to work some nights and weekends Ability to work remotely or on-site as needed The above statement reflects the general details considered necessary to describe the principal function of the job identified and shall not be considered a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the job.
