Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced research professional with a full understanding of in-depth statistical analyses and/or research software programming techniques. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. The Research Data Manager will work under the direction of Co-Directors of the Center for Biosignal Research (CBR) (cbr.ucsf.edu) and the CBR Scientific Program Manager. The incumbent will manage existing and newly developed CBR databases, perform data extractions and database updates, perform data analysis and develop analytic pipelines for clinical information systems. They will work independently and in collaboration with faculty investigators to facilitate multiple research projects and CBR efforts. This includes advising on, assisting, and managing the building of research datasets, organizing, cataloguing, and curating relevant data (such as data from NIH-funded cohort studies; CBR databases approved for FDA validation; data from digital health registries, including wearable-device data). The incumbent will maintain appropriate certifications, update data accordingly, work with external agencies to meet regulatory requirements and assure users are appropriately certified. They will manage the data to select requested databases and cohorts and translate the available data into analysis-ready datasets. They will work with the clinical systems within the UCSF Health system or other entities providing datasets to update databases and work with investigators to access and/or extract new data as appropriate. The incumbent will have thorough working knowledge of computers to identify, make relevant recommendations about, utilize, update, and maintain systems to facilitate this work. The incumbent will also seek out an understanding of existing UCSF and CBR databases (become a local domain expert and liaison) and UCSF clinical systems to expand the data sources accessible for CBR research and operations. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. UCSF Benefits Department Description

The Division of Cardiology, in which the Center for Biosignal Research is based, is one of the largest clinical, research and training divisions of the Department of Medicine (DOM) at UCSF. Within the Division are sub-specialty sections for: Adult Congenital Heart Disease; Advanced Heart Failure, Transplant, and Pulmonary Hypertension; Cardiac Electrophysiology; Echocardiography and Cardiac Imaging; General Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology; and Prevention. The Division runs several clinical practices in multiple sites, conducts basic and clinical research, and educates medical students, residents, clinical fellows and postdoctoral scholars through ACGME as well as non-ACGME training programs. In addition, the Division has significant and complex financial and administrative relationships with the Department of Medicine (DOM) and the UCSF Medical Center, as well as large patient care programs in the sections noted above, large clinical, Federal, and privately supported research programs, and six faculty laboratories. The Division has 70+ full-time faculty, 7 non-faculty academics, 36 clinical fellows, 6 post-doctoral research fellows, 10 WOS faculty, 2 MSP physicians, and over 60 research support and administrative staff. The Division currently expends over $22 million per year in pursuit of its clinical, research, training, and service missions. While the Division is primarily split between the Parnassus and Mission Bay campuses, fellows have rotations at the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related area and 3 or more years of directly related work experience; and/or equivalent experience/training Working knowledge of clinical research principles and research design Thorough knowledge of SQL and highly proficient with queries and data management in SQL databases; highly proficient in database principles and database management, information systems Working skills in statistical analysis, systems programming using software such as SPSS, STATA, SAS, R and/or Python. Ideally fluent in several if not all of these software/languages Experienced and proficient in standard Microsoft Office products including Excel and Access, as well as MS SQL Thorough analytical and design skills, including the ability to abstract information requirements from real-world processes to understand information flows in computer systems Experienced in working with inter-related databases Strong skills to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing Skills in project management Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree or higher in related area and/or equivalent experience/training Demonstrated interest and ability in scientific writing to communicate research methods, context within existing literature and results in well-written prose Proficiency in creating publication-quality tables and figures to communicate research results visually using software such as Excel, PowerPoint, Keynote, Tableau, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, etc. Experience with clinical research data and methods, including in the cardiovascular and medical domains About UCSF
