Job Description Responsible for developing a database structure that fits into the overall architecture of the system under development and has to make trades among data volumes, number of users, logical and physical distribution, response times, retention rules, security and domain controls Provides technical expertise for database design, development, implementation, information storage and retrieval, data flow and analysis Works primarily at the front end of the lifecycle-requirements through system acceptance testing and Initial Operational Capability (IOC) Develops requirements from a project's inception to its conclusion for a particular business and IT subject matter area (i.e., simple to complex systems) Assist with recommendations for, and analysis and evaluation of systems improvements, optimization, development, and/or maintenance efforts Creates ad hoc queries, scripts, and macros; creates new queries and updates existing ones; builds complex systems using advanced queries and schemas; optimizes data storage and retrieval for speed and efficiency Tune relational databases to improve the performance of the database and its components Education and Experience 19 Years of Experience with a Bachelor's Degree Required Qualifications Proficiency in Oracle, MySQL, Postgres, SQL, Server, or MongoDB Experience with relational database administration and engineering applications Experience with Extract, Translate, and Load (ETL) operations TS/SCI Clearance Desired Qualifications Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Java Advanced SQL skills for querying, data manipulation, and stored procedures Experience leveraging AWS to create database snapshots, restore from backups, and migrate data into new databases Understanding of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) process and tools for data migration and transformation Knowledge of database design principles, including normalization, indexing, and schema design
