JOB SUMMARY
The Communications and Content Specialist is responsible for performing external and internal communications functions that support the Dakota Credit Union Association’s strategies. Primary duties are to maintain brand consistency while providing information and resources to member credit unions through writing, editing, content creation, public relations, and social media efforts as well as maintaining a biweekly electronic newsletter.
JOB FUNCTIONS
The Communications and Content Specialist guides the association’s overall public communications and media relations, which encompasses public relations, public affairs and communications initiatives as well political/regulatory advocacy support. The Communications and Content Specialist is responsible for writing and overseeing the distribution of internal and external communications. This includes member communication, news releases, opinion editorials, and more. They will maintain regular contact with affiliated credit unions to identify stories of interest for both external and internal promotion. They will be tasked with providing coverage and support at Dakota Credit Union Association events, for the Dakota Credit Union Foundation, for the Dakota Service Corporation, assist with writing for Dakota Credit Union Assocation educational programs and others as well as maintaining relations with national and local credit union communication/media contacts. Duties also will include oversight and origination of the association’s biweekly electronic newsletter, association website content, Dakota chapter events, and all social media platforms. They will provide input and support efforts to showcase and market the value of Dakota Credit Union Association to affiliated Dakota credit unions’ members and potential members.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

Be a credit union ambassador and advocate.
·
Assist CEO and all departments with writing support, scripting, and messaging.
·
Responsible for the accuracy and proofing of communications from CEO and DakCU staff as well as applying communication standards and consistency.
·
Oversight of DakCU’s award winning biweekly electronic newsletter (The Memo).
·
Monitor and maintain data quality within Constant Contact and other communication lists.
·
Assist with DakCU’s chapter coordination, presentations, and meeting notices.
·
Assist with the annual DakCU Awards program.
·
Attend DakCU events, foundation events, chapter meetings, political fundraisers, etc. as needed.
·
Liaison and support for the Dakota Credit Union Foundation board of directors. Provide correspondence between Foundation grant applicants, recipients, and board.
·
Assist and coordinate Foundation fundraising goals.
·
Represent Dakota Credit Union Foundation within the State Credit Union Foundation Network.
·
Other duties as assigned by CEO or VP of Marketing & Communications.
Requirements
Minimum 3 years of experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or related field.
Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, strong knowledge of layout and AP Style, comfort with editing others’ work, and the ability to apply consistency and standards across the Dakota credit union system.
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Proven organizational skills, the ability to multi-task and work independently.
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, or related field; or the equivalent combination of skills and experience.
Media and social media placement and strategic experience.
Skills and Abilities:

Team player that can function independently without supervisions yet take direction.

Working Conditions:
