About this role:

We seek a detail-oriented and organized individual to lead and manage our nonprofit team of twelve professionals. By overseeing the day-to-day operations, you will be critical in ensuring efficiency and implementing strategies. As our organization grows, you will ensure we stay on track by monitoring performance and identifying opportunities with our employees, members, donors, contractors, and community.

How You’ll Make a Difference:

  1. Support Our History: JWV is the oldest continuously active and congressionally chartered Veterans Service Organization. A well-run office is necessary to continue serving our military and veteran community, celebrating our heritage, combating antisemitism, and preserving our stories.
  2. Manage Office Operations: Plan and monitor day-to-day operations and employee scheduling. Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders such as maintenance/vendors, JWV membership and patrons, Ladies Auxiliary, and outside consultants.
  3. Oversee Budget and Financial Management: Monitor and approve expenses, establish guidelines, ensure compliance, produce reports, provide transparency, communicate with contractors, pay bills, utilities, paychecks.
  4. Shaping Policies and Procedures: Ensure effective implementation, communicate with staff and key members, provide or schedule training, review and update as needed.
  5. Legal and Regulatory Compliance: Conduct internal audits to identify areas of noncompliance, maintain accurate records, ensure tax registration and filing.
  6. Partnering with Staff: Staff supports JWV functions across the US and abroad, with most of the work done in the office. Recruit and hire positions when vacant, onboard and offboard all employees, monitor pay/benefits with contractors, gather feedback and adjust when needed, conduct performance reviews.
  7. Make Relationships Count: Ensure staff are engaged, build relationships with JWV members, communicate as needed with JWV National Executive Committee, be welcoming to community partners and museum donors.
  8. Confidentiality: Protect sensitive information and adhere to company policies and procedures regarding data security and privacy.

What You Should Bring to the Table:

  1. Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or similar advanced degree preferred.
  2. Proven experience leading an office with both in-person and telework employees.
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other software. Experience with accounting software and Salesforce is a bonus!
  4. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to lead others both in office and remote.
  5. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  6. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  7. Knowledge of diverse business functions.
  8. Discretion and ability to handle confidential information with sensitivity.
  9. Experience or knowledge of military culture and customs. Veterans are encouraged to apply.

Benefits:

  1. $85,000 to $100,000
  2. 35 hours a week with flexible hours
  3. Dupont Circle Office with FREE parking
  4. Telework one day a week after 90 days
