This position will support fish passage and habitat restoration planning, analysis, design, and construction projects throughout the Pacific Northwest. The applicant will have 8 or more years of experience working on river and stream restoration and/or fish passage projects providing field assessments, data collection and analysis, hydraulic modeling, geomorphic and habitat assessment support, fish passage and restoration design, construction and project management. Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Performing hydrologic, hydraulic, and geomorphic analyses to support habitat restoration and fish passage projects.
- Managing and participating in the collection of field data; completing complex analyses and calculations independently.
- Preparing design plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates for restoration projects independently and with oversight.
- Developing and providing technical review of project work and reports.
- Working directly with conservation districts, tribes and other organizations throughout the Pacific Northwest to complete river and stream restoration projects to restore natural systems and salmon habitat.
- Managing project teams, tasks, and budgets for river and stream restoration projects.
- Assisting with the development of proposals and project scopes and budgets.
- Providing technical mentorship and guidance to junior staff.
- Developing construction planning and observation documentation.
- Providing on-site construction observation and field engineering.
What Are We Looking For?
Ideal candidates will have the following:
- M.S. degree in stream restoration, ecological, or hydraulic engineering.
- 8 or more years experience designing river and stream restoration and/or fish passage projects, with a minimum of 3 years of project management experience.
- Construction observation and field engineering experience.
- Large wood placement and engineered log jam design experience.
- Topographic, bathymetric, and/or drone-based field surveying experience.
- Experience supporting proposal efforts along with scope and budget estimating.
- Knowledge of Washington State's environmental planning and regulatory environment and fisheries biology of the Pacific Northwest.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates are required to have the following:
- B.S. degree in civil, hydraulic, or ecological engineering.
- PE license in the state of Washington or the ability to obtain such licensure within one year of hire date.
- 8 or more years of experience designing river and stream restoration and/or fish passage projects.
- Proficiency in field data collection to support geomorphic and habitat assessments for rivers and streams.
- Proficiency in hydrologic analysis for rivers and streams.
- Proficiency in 1D and 2D hydrodynamic modeling software (e.g. HEC-RAS 1D/2D).
- Proficiency in technical report writing.
- Experience with scour and sediment transport analyses and design in rivers and streams
- Experience in ArcGIS and AutoCAD platforms and Microsoft Excel software.
- Ability to excel in a fast paced, detail and client service-oriented team environment and have proven ability to work across disciplines internally and externally.
- Willingness to travel seasonally for field work and construction projects for up to 2 weeks at a time.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Ability to work well in diverse multi-disciplinary project teams.

Salary and Other Compensation:
- Salary Range: $ 90,250 - $101,000 annually
- Annual Bonus
- Other potential bonus types: Billable Time Bonus, Spot Bonus, Milestone Anniversary Bonus, Receiving Professional License/Certification Bonus, Peer-reviewed Publication Bonus, Employee Referral Bonus.
Base Level Benefits for Regular Full-Time Positions:
