Director of Conference and Event Services

Reporting to the Vice President for Operations (VPO), the Director of Conference and Event Services will provide direct management for daily operations and leadership to Conference and Event Services.
- Maintain oversight for assigned areas (Events Scheduling, Front Desk Services, Event Operations, and Client Services) including planning, budgeting, and staff management; directly responsible for selection, training, evaluating (performance reviews), and motivating for direct reports; coaching and supporting direct reports in their department management; develop approaches to enhance community access, promote services, and maintain community satisfaction; and lead outreach & awareness efforts for department(s).
- Develop long-range goals. Oversee the implementation of strategic and tactical plans. Create a compelling vision, mission, and goals for assigned areas that align with LMU institutional priorities.
- Develop and maintain relationship with all campus constituencies. Pay special attention to the service departments including Student Housing, Student Affairs, One Card Office, Sodexho Dining Services, Public Safety, Athletics, Facilities Management, Information Technology & others as needed.
- Create and implement policies, procedures, and protocols for the efficient use of the campus spaces.
- Provide reports on both routine and special projects and present space usage statistics to improve the usage of space on campus. Maintain capital projects budget and planning documents.
- Conduct tours for potential clients to market LMU as a venue for gatherings including but not limited to meetings, conferences and other educational/commercial programming.
- Maintain and manage department budget in accordance to all university policies and procedures.
- Responsible for all revenue and budget targets for the conference and event services department and growing revenue annually.
- Manage customer service efforts for the department and client satisfaction surveys. Analyze client satisfaction data and determine improvement plans to address client concerns.
- Represent LMU at professional organizations or associations, serve on committees as required. Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Requisite Qualifications
- Typically, a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation/policy changes.
- Minimum 5 years of event coordination experience in progressively responsible positions. Previous experience in higher education event/conference management highly desired.
- Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of: understanding the university environment, both organizationally and culturally. Knowledge pertaining to principles of organization, supervision and inventory management; diversity, equity and inclusion; computer hardware and software applications, including scheduling, word processing and spreadsheet packages; and use of audio-visual equipment.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Communicate well with a diverse population of faculty, staff, students, all levels of administrators and others, using tact and diplomacy at all times. Efficiently organize, prioritize, and coordinate the use of facilities, personnel, and services. Simultaneously work on multiple tasks with varying deadlines; demonstrate ability to solve problems and flexibility in handling last minute changes. Complete a high volume of work in a timely fashion. Be available for night and weekend work when necessary; be on call for emergencies year-round.
- Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced by background in preparing comprehensive reports and executive summaries incorporating complex, highly technical information.
- Highly developed organizational and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated computer competency and preferably knowledgeable of Microsoft Officesystems.
- In-person position on the LMU Westchester campus.
