JOB DESCRIPTION

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work environment (combination of remote work and in-office reporting), with the coordination and approval of the appropriate supervisor. The position is located in Columbus, OH.

Position Title: Vice President of Human Resources and Talent Management

Reports To: President/CEO

FLSA Status: Exempt

Basic Functions: Leads and provides strategic direction to the Human Resources Department, including talent management, training, recruiting, compliance, payroll, benefits, budgeting and labor relations. Works closely with members of the Executive Management Team to strengthen employee engagement and drive an inclusive culture.

Essential Functions:

1. Leads the activities of the department in consultation with the President/CEO. Develops department goals, objectives and systems related to the people function for AMP and its affiliates/subsidiaries, including diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) initiatives.

2. Provides direct supervision to Assistant Vice President of Human Resources.

3. Directs and administers the function using prudent professional human resource principles, practices and procedures in accordance with legal requirements and policies established by the Board of Trustees and President/CEO.

4. Provides strategic focus and leads development and implementation of talent management programs and processes to drive employee engagement, collaboration, recruiting, performance and goal management, compensation, succession planning and employee development programs.

5. Provides advice and expertise to the EMT on talent management and development strategies. Ensures talent initiatives are strategically aligned with business priorities and organizational goals.

6. Directs employment-related programs, policies, procedures and controls to ensure a strong compliance culture.

7. Oversees the annual labor and human resource budget process.

8. Prepares material for the Board of Trustees, including organization chart updates and financial analysis relating to personnel items in coordination with the President/CEO.

9. Coordinates with external and internal counsel and Generation Operations leadership on matters relates to labor relations and collective bargaining as appropriate.

10. Demonstrates strong appreciation for AMP's Mission, Vision and Values and helps ensure that AMP's Member focus and understanding of the value of public power are part of the employee culture.

11. Represents AMP on committees and task forces, including those associated with the American Public Power Association and Large Public Power Council.

12. Oversees the payroll and time-keeping process. Ensures payroll/human resource systems meet organizational requirements.

13. Directs company-wide training related to performance management and other HR- related topics.

14. Works with external insurance broker to secure employee benefits insurance and maintains a Board-approved strategic benefits plan in coordination with the President/CEO.

15. Supervises external compensation consultant and leverages surveys from other organizations for the purpose of salary benchmarking to maintain a competitive compensation and benefits strategy.

16. Provides leadership and supports organization-wide employee engagement and motivation efforts. Promotes Member and public power awareness to all employees.

17. Ensures personnel updates and guidelines are communicated to employees.

18. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Qualifications:

1. A four-year degree in human resources or organizational management or a four-year degree in business with significant coursework in human resources is required.

2. A minimum of ten (10) years' corporate human resources experience, including strategic talent management, is strongly preferred.

3. A minimum of five (5) years' experience at a director or higher level is strongly preferred.

4. Previous experience with labor relations and collective bargaining agreements is strongly preferred.

5. Previous experience with DEIB efforts preferred.

6. SHRM/PHR certification preferred and DISC certification within 12-24 months of hire required.

7. Must demonstrate a broad understanding of all HR-related business practices including: strategic planning, organizational learning and development, recruitment, compliance obligations, and performance and succession management.

8. Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, managerial and supervisory skills, including ability to work closely and collaboratively with C suite executives.

9. Must be a self-starter and a team player.
