Director, Football Performance

This position is responsible for developing a comprehensive program for the training of football student-athletes to maximize their potential for athletic performance and injury prevention; collaborating with coaches and athletic trainers to organize and design strength, power, speed, agility, and flexibility programs for football student-athletes; ensuring the safety, hygiene, and efficiency of the weight facility; supervising individual and team workouts; displaying a positive attitude, demonstrating enthusiasm, providing positive energy, and communicating effectively with football student-athletes, coaches, and staff.

Teaching/Coaching (51%)

  1. Develop a comprehensive program for the training of football student-athletes to maximize their potential for athletic performance and injury prevention;
  2. Implement all comprehensive programs and provide instructions to football student-athletes;
  3. In collaboration with the football coaches and athletic trainers, design and organize strength, power, speed, agility, and flexibility programs for student-athletes;
  4. Supervise training sessions and teach proper lifting techniques;
  5. Perform all warm-up and cool-down activities for football student-athletes at games and practices;
  6. Educate football student-athletes on proper nutrition and rest and recovery;
  7. Educate football student-athletes on proper physical and mental health, and monitor their progress;
  8. Provide individual instructions and sessions to football student-athletes;
  9. Develop an off-field player development plan and mentoring program;

Administration (49%)

  1. Attend meetings with alumni and enhance public relations as needed;
  2. Travel with the football team;
  3. Maintain adherence to NCAA, UAC, and university rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and processes;
  4. Support the philosophy, goals, and mission of both the University and its intercollegiate athletics programs;
  5. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree is required;
  2. Minimum of three years of experience as a strength and conditioning coach, including both technique instruction and program design, is required;
  3. Three years of collegiate experience, preferred;
  4. Familiarity with NCAA rules and regulations, preferred.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:

  1. Current, valid driver’s license is required;
  2. Certification through a nationally accredited strength and conditioning certification program, is required;
  3. CPR certification, renewed annually, is required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Ability to effectively recruit and coach student-athletes while maintaining concern for health and welfare, physical and psychological preparation;
  2. Ability to foster and maintain positive, effective relationships with student-athletes, coaching staff, administrators, faculty, staff, parents, and the general public;
  3. Organizational skills;
  4. Ability to interact effectively – both verbally and in written format – with a diverse group of student-athletes, staff, faculty, administrators, parents, and the public;
  5. Ability to demonstrate respect for and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds;
  6. Knowledge of and the ability to maintain compliance with NCAA, UAC, and university rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and processes;
  7. Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations governing recruitment, eligibility, and related functions;
  8. Ability to operate a PC and standard software programs as related to employment and position-specific activities;
  9. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other divisional staff, coaches, and administrators.

ATHLETICS ADDENDUM:

As the Director of Football Performance for the University of North Alabama, you will be expected to comply with all NCAA and Conference rules and regulations and with the provisions of gender equity as specified by Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. You are required to participate in an annual review of relevant Conference and NCAA rules and regulations governing your position responsibilities. You are expected to advise the Athletics Director if you are aware of any violation of NCAA/conference rules or regulations in the University's athletics program. Violation of NCAA/Conference rules or regulations shall subject you to disciplinary or corrective action as set forth in the provisions of the NCAA enforcement procedures and as required by Section 11.2 of the NCAA Manual. Further, you may be terminated or disciplined for any act or omission that may give rise to a finding that the institution has violated an NCAA rule or regulation. You shall also be subject to disciplinary action for violation of any university rules, policies, regulations, or the provisions of Title IX pursuant to the policies and procedures governing university staff employees.
