Job Summary
The general responsibilities of this position include:
- Clinical evaluations, including examining and evaluating the patients' prosthetic/orthotic needs in relation to their disease entities and functional losses.
- Implementation of a wide assortment of orthotic/prosthetic treatment modalities, including performing fittings, static and dynamic alignments, evaluating prostheses/orthoses on patients to assure maximum fit, function, comfort, and workmanship, as well as instructing patients in the use of prostheses/orthoses.
- Technical fabrication of orthotic/prosthetic devices for both in and out patients, including formulating designs for prostheses/orthoses, selection of materials and components, taking all necessary cast measurements, and model modifications.
- Maintaining adequate patient records.
This position is expected to meet basic clinical standards, complete tasks in a timely manner, and adhere to office policies and practices. This position is required to take weekend call according to the schedule created at the beginning of each fiscal year.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $118,300 - $268,900 (Annual Rate).
Department Description
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is responsible for the department's academic, teaching, patient care professional services, and research activities under the UCSF School of Medicine. The department has over 400 academic and staff personnel at multiple sites (UC, Mt. Zion, MB, SFGH, and VAMC). The Orthotic and Prosthetic Department provides joint patient care with numerous services across the UCSF health care system.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, health administration or clinical degree and/or equivalent experience/training.
- Minimum of 6 (six) years of directly related experience.
- American Board Certification (ABC) in Orthotics and/or Prosthetics.
- ABC-Accredited Residency.
- Bachelor's Degree (for those who graduated O&P school prior to 2012); or Master's Degree (for those who graduated O&P school after 2012).
- 3-5 years' experience working as a Certified Orthotist and/or Prosthetist.
- Ability to work independently and successfully in the treatment of complex orthotic/prosthetic cases.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the Key Responsibilities listed above.
- Ability to document clearly and accurately in accord with CMS standards.
- English Language Skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Past Management Experience.
- Ability to create informative educational presentations.
- Past teaching experience in the O&P profession.
- Past research experience in the O&P profession.
- Fluent in another language.
License/Certification
- American Board Certification (ABC) in Orthotics and/or Prosthetics.
