Senior Engineer Analyst - Damage Control

Prevailance is seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer Analyst – Damage Control to support U.S. Navy operations. This role involves expertise in shipboard damage control systems, readiness evaluations, and associated administrative and maintenance programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical expertise in damage control systems and operations, both installed and portable (e.g., AFFF, HALON, Breathing Air, Main and Secondary Drain, ESPs, P-100s, CBR)
- Oversee damage control administrative programs such as Gas Free Engineering, AFFF Quantab, and DC Closure
- Conduct readiness evaluations based on the Surface Force Training and Readiness Manual (SFTRM), particularly Chapter 6
- Support INSURV inspections, including Master Event Lists, Workbook deliverables, and inspection guides (IIG)
- Apply detailed knowledge of Material Maintenance Management (3M) and the Planned Maintenance System (PMS)
- Utilize the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM) for Equipment Operational Capability (EOC) definitions and scoring
- Engage in frequent travel (up to 50%) and embark U.S. Naval vessels for extended periods
Qualifications:
- Engineering-focused experience as Damage Control Assistant (DCA) or LCPO of a shipboard DC organization
- Minimum of 20 years of hands-on shipboard damage control engineering experience
- Recent (within the last 5 years) shipboard DC engineering experience
- At least three (3) at-sea tours in a DC capacity
- NEC 4811 (DCA/Senior Damage Controlman) qualification
- Proficient in administrative programs and support systems related to damage control
- Working knowledge of:
- SFTRM Chapter 6 readiness evaluations
- INSURV publications and inspection guides
- JFMM Volume 6 scoring and EOC definitions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Physically capable of climbing ladders and staying aboard Naval vessels for consecutive days
Strongly Desired Qualifications:
- 25 years of Navy surface ship engineering experience
- Retired LDO, CWO, or E8 / E9
- Experience as an Inspector for the U.S. Navy Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV)
- Experience at Afloat Training Group or TYCOM staff, focusing on pre-INSURV preparations
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Familiarity with:
- Optimum Fleet Response Plan (OFRP) and its execution via the SFTRM
- Functional areas of INSURV Material Inspections, including SOEs and IIGs
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent
Security Clearance:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance
