The Energy Analytics Lead Expert is responsible for designing, developing and maintaining data models to support short-term asset optimization for EDP assets in North American wholesale power markets, as well as proprietary trading activities. Responsible for collecting, analyzing and interpreting data, producing tools and reports aimed at maximizing revenues under multiple use cases and configurations (hybrid and standalone; behind and front-of-the-meter), conforming with market rules, contractual and operational performance requirements.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Support the development of optimization models, analytics, and bidding strategies for wind, solar, and energy storage market participation.
- Responsible for the development of short-term machine learning forecasting models for nodal energy and system-wide ancillary services prices in all relevant markets to support optimal dispatch of utility-scale storage systems and hybrid assets.
- Assist in the development of applications intended to collect/monitor/analyze real time data from Energy Storage Systems.
- Support IM&A in the investment analysis and pricing of projects including energy storage, by providing revenue projections estimates and system configuration recommendations.
- Collaborate with GEM Advanced Analytics to share best practice in the development of state-of-the art revenue optimization models for dispatching energy storage systems.
- Assist in the development of automated applications capable of bidding Energy Storage Systems to maximize revenues from projects.
- Survey and ensure up-to-date proper modeling of the market rules governing renewable resource participation in all relevant wholesale markets, including wind, solar, and energy storage.
- Make recommendations intended at managing capacity degradation of energy storage projects, based on best practices/findings in operational data.
- Produce reports with relevant information on renewable energy assets performance in the various North America wholesale electricity markets.
- Support Short-Term Asset Optimization, Market Access, Origination, and/or other commercial efforts as needed.
- Work as part of a team, supporting and leading initiatives that enhance the group's capabilities and performance.

Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- 8+ years of experience in the renewable sector is preferred
- Preferred: Masters in Data Science or similar
- Proficient knowledge of Python, Scikit-Learn (or similar), SQL, Azure, AWS and Microsoft Office software
- Proven experience with code development and software maintenance
- Knowledge of North America power markets and related commercial software/applications (e.g. YES Energy, Enverus, Genscape).
- Proficient knowledge of Linear Programming and Mixed-Integer Programming and Algebraic Modeling Languages as AIMMS, GAMS, or Pyomo
- Experience with optimization models, AI/ML forecasting and data manipulation
- Ability to speak Spanish or Portuguese is a plus.
- Understanding of Microsoft products and/or complementing products preferred
- Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Strong Communication, Customer/Partner Relationships, and Technology Expertise
- Sitting/Standing/Flexibility: Ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environment
- Walking: Ability to walk .5 to 2 miles per day, including across unpaved and rough surfaces when on project sites.
- Speech/Reading: Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written verbal, diagram, or scheduled form
- Lifting: Ability to lift items weighing up to 10 pounds
- Vision/Hearing: Ability to understand a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
