Manufacturing Project Engineer

Summary

The Manufacturing Project Engineer will be involved in materials specification and planning for compressor testing project and will be the point person for the creation and maintenance of all Manufacturing Department production schedules for customer projects. The person in this position is expected to cross-train and expand their role into compressor assembly and testing along with package assembly.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Foster an environment of teamwork, compliance and continual improvement.
  • Adhere to the Company's objectives, i.e. Safety, Quality, Environmental and Information Security.
  • Ensure compliance with departments standard procedures.
  • Proactive participation in company initiatives, HSE, Quality, Kaizen, 5S etc.
  • Creation and upkeep of manufacturing schedules for customer and internal projects.
  • Creation and upkeep of manufacturing shop floor layout and labor capacity plans.
  • Facilitate and lead internal production meetings with minutes and actions being assigned with follow-up.
  • Materials planning and coordination for production projects.
  • Support creation of technical specifications for compressor performance and mechanical run testing projects.
  • Supplier management.
  • Supplier technical analysis and technical audit support.
  • Creation and upkeep of project structures in SAP.
  • Creation of purchase requests.
  • Creation and update of technical procedures to facilitate knowledge transfer and business continuity.
  • Proactively communicate with all MCO-I departments and personnel as required.
  • Provide a conduit of communication to MCO from MCO-I where required.
  • Support management of project, CAPEX, and OPEX budgets.
  • Support creation of production routers and technical documents.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (or similar).
  • Able to travel to Japan for extended periods of time.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with excellent oral and written communication.
  • Good ability with MS Office, Excel, Power Point, Word, Projects, Outlook, etc.
  • Willingness to learn MCO-I Enterprise Resource Planning system (SAP) and other software where pertinent.
  • Strong ability and willingness to learn and develop technical ability, knowledge and skillsets.
  • Proactive in taking on responsibility and accountability.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Proactive communication and comfortable chairing efficient meetings.
  • Have written and spoken English communication skills.

Preferred Skills
  • Applicable rotating equipment and packaging experience.
  • Able to read and understand piping isometrics.
  • Able to read and understand piping and instrumentation diagrams.
  • Able to read and understand electrical diagrams.
  • Able to read compressor manufacturing drawings.
  • Workflow optimization.
  • Experience with 5S and Lean initiatives.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to sit and work in front of a computer.
  • Ability to spend time within the facility standing and walking.
  • Minor lifting < 45 lbs.
  • Able to climb/descend ladders to access equipment when necessary.
Work environment
  • Office environment but also includes shop environment with dust, fumes, and noise.
  • Able to work outside of normal business hours, if required by project schedules, including weekends and holidays.
  • Infrequent travel out of state and country.
