Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pulmonary Function Technician (Respiratory Therapist) to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will perform pulmonary function testing (PFT) and other diagnostic respiratory assessments to evaluate patients lung function and support the treatment of respiratory conditions. This position requires excellent patient care skills, technical expertise, and a collaborative approach to working with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
Pulmonary Function Testing: Perform a variety of pulmonary function tests, including spirometry, lung volume measurements, diffusion capacity, and bronchial provocation testing.
Equipment Operation: Operate, calibrate, and maintain PFT equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.
Patient Preparation: Prepare patients for testing by explaining procedures, obtaining medical history, and ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout the assessment process.
Data Analysis: Analyze test results and generate detailed reports for review by physicians, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
Collaboration: Work closely with pulmonologists, allergists, and other healthcare providers to deliver patient-centered care and support diagnosis and treatment planning.
Quality Assurance: Adhere to hospital policies, protocols, and national standards for pulmonary function testing, ensuring quality and compliance.
Education and Training: Educate patients about their respiratory health, including disease management and treatment options, as needed. Provide guidance to other healthcare staff on PFT procedures and updates.
Safety Standards: Follow all safety protocols and infection control procedures to protect patients, staff, and equipment.
Education
Associates or Bachelors degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field.
Certification in Pulmonary Function Technology (CPFT or RPFT) is preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
Current state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist.
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential through the
Experience:
Required: 1 year of clinical experience.
Certifications:
Required: BLS.
Preferred: ARDMS or CCI.
