Generalist Software Engineer

Who is Recruiting from Scratch:

Recruiting from Scratch is a talent firm that focuses on placing the best candidate for our clients. Our team is 100% remote and we work with teams across North America, South America, and Europe to help them hire.

Salary Range: $140,000-$200,000 base plus 0.10%-0.50% equity.

Role responsibilities:

1. At least 4 tough years of experience at modern software companies. For this role, our client is looking for someone who has pushed themselves hard and excelled at a software-first company and is looking for their next challenge.
2. Deep SQL knowledge. We use an ORM and query builder, but it’s a thin wrapper over SQL. You’ve got to know SQL inside and out to really be successful.
3. Intimate TypeScript familiarity. Our client doesn't need you to be comfortable with the entire stack, but knowing TypeScript already ensures you can hit the ground running.
4. Can start immediately. If you're the right candidate, our client will move quickly, and we need you to be able to as well.

Candidate requirements:

1. Able and excited to work with the team in person in Menlo Park.
2. 4+ years of experience - not necessarily professional. For example, if you've built your own compiler on GitHub and don't have any professional experience, please talk to us.
3. Deep backend experience. Not just CRUD.
4. Experience with an expressively typed language like Scala, Haskell, Rust, or OCaml.
5. Deep curiosity and excitement about coding.

Nice-to-haves:

1. Typescript and SQL experience.
2. Uses Linux on their personal computer.
3. Startup experience, someone who wants ownership and to really get into the code.
