Posted Job Title Assistant Director of Donor Relations Job Profile Title Staff Writer C Job Description Summary Reporting to the Director of Donor Relations, the Assistant Director of Donor Relations is a key member of the Donor Relations team. The Assistant Director of Donor Relations is responsible for writing and producing a portfolio of donor reports, personalized acknowledgments, and other communications that communicate the impact of philanthropic support to encourage and inspire School engagement and continued support. This includes managing graduate student donor reporting, writing undergraduate scholarship reports, and reports for undergraduate research and internships. The position involves contact and collaboration with development staff, faculty, administrators, and students at Penn Arts & Sciences. Job Description Penn Arts & Sciences forms the foundation of the scholarly excellence that has established Penn as one of the world's leading research universities. Specific Duties Write personalized acknowledgments, correspondence, stewardship reports, and other written communication to donors on behalf of School leader ship . Utilize Salesforce Compass database for gift and donor information. Research, w rite, edit, and produce stewardship reports for major gifts supporting the School . This includes working collaboratively with faculty and departments on gift usage and ensuring gifts are utilized correctly . P roject manager/team lead on School -based graduate student support and undergraduate research and internship support. Ensure personal and accurate reporting to donors , maintaining database s and systems. Edit and produce undergraduate scholarship reports. Write other correspondence and communications, including developing template language for Donor Relations correspondence produced by SASOA and DAR. Direct work of freelancer reports writers as needed , including creating assignments, providing guidance on content, and reviewing and editing their submissions. Provide additional writing and editorial support as needed for broader SASOA communications initiatives , including proofreading copy for web and print projects, and writing general articles for alumni magazine as schedule permits . Qualifications The successful candidate must have exceptional written and oral communication skills, with a writing portfolio demonstrating experience in donor relations/stewardship/ development writing in various contexts. Bachelor’s degree with 3 to 5 years of experience in donor relations /development writing , preferably in higher education, required . Exceptional proofreading skills , a high level of attention to detail , and strong organizational skills, with a proven ability to manage and execute multiple projects, meet deadlines , and track progress and activities. The position will also require strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact and communicate clearly with Penn leadership, staff, faculty, and donors. Candidates must also be able to work effectively in a large, complex institutional setting and as a team member . Computer proficiency , including Microsoft Windows (Excel, Word). Knowledge of databases and contact management systems. Salesforce experience is a plus, as well as the ability to learn new systems , databases , and platforms.
