Tenured/Tenure-Track: Open Rank (Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering Technology Program) Engineering Technology & Industrial Distribution Location College Station, TX Open Date 10/11/2024 Position ID 149797 Description The Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution, College of Engineering at Texas A&M University invites applications for a full-time tenured or tenure-track position with a 9-month academic appointment, and the possibility of an additional summer appointment contingent upon need and availability of funds, beginning fall 2025. Applicants will be considered for the titles of Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor depending on qualifications. The successful applicant will be required to teach; advise and mentor graduate students; develop an independent, externally funded research program; participate in all aspects of the department's activities; and serve the profession. Department Info: The Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution is unique among the 15 departments within the College of Engineering, due to its strong focus on applied research and undergraduate education. The Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution Department blends engineering and business knowledge, methods, and research. This department consists of four distinct undergraduate programs and three graduate programs - two distance education and one resident graduate program. Minors in Embedded Systems Integration, Technical Sales, and Information Technology Services Management are also available. More information available here: (https://engineering.tamu.edu/etid/index.html) As the largest in student enrollment (over 2600 undergraduate and 280 graduate students) in the college, the department has 112 faculty members, including 36 tenured/tenure-track and 76 full and part-time academic professional track faculty members to support academic programs in electronic systems engineering technology, multidisciplinary engineering technology, manufacturing and mechanical engineering technology, information technology service management, and industrial distribution. Department research expenditures exceed $10 million annually supporting areas such as embedded systems, communications, advanced manufacturing, intelligent product design and development, information technology management, human-computer interaction, robotics and automation, sales management, distribution operations and supply chain management (led by the Thomas and Joan Read Center for Distribution Research and Education), engineering education and workforce development. Qualifications Applicants must have an earned doctorate in an appropriate engineering field or a closely related engineering or science discipline. Preference will be given to candidates with recent and relevant hands-on experience with applied research and technology development in one or more of the following areas: Advanced manufacturing systems (e.g., cyber-physical, applied/industrialized AI, etc.), and/or Industrial de-carbonization technologies (approaches such as energy efficiency, industrial electrification, low-carbon fuels/sources, carbon capture). Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. Experience working in or with industry is preferred.
