Bioinformatics Software Engineer III
Exciting Opportunity at MSK
As part of the pathology software engineering group, you will work with a passionate team using technology to solve real-world and life-impacting challenges. You will develop bioinformatics and biomedical informatics solutions that will help diagnose a tumor specimen and suggest treatment paths for cancer. As a mid/senior level bioinformatics software engineer you will work with our informatics teams to help us continue pioneering next-generation clinical software systems, spawning from managing petabyte-scale biological datasets, high-performance computing-enabled bioinformatics pipelines, and other cutting-edge systems to help visualize and report genomic results that guide treatment decisions and enrollment of patients onto the clinical trials.
Role Overview:
Work and collaborate with a top-notch team of software engineers, bioinformatics researchers, system engineers, and pathologists to support clinical-grade diagnostic analysis, results, and reporting informatics infrastructure.
Collaborate, design, implement, test, and deploy cutting-edge scalable automation pipelines and multi-tiered full-stack software systems.
Create and maintain technical documentation including user guides, operational run books, and standard operating procedures.
Develop DevOps framework and implement standards, processes, and controls for release and deployment activities.
Develop API services, data dashboards, visualizations, and cutting-edge web portals.
Key Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in computer science, or related informatics field with 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience
5+ years of hands-on experience with programming languages like Python/Java, or JavaScript frameworks such as ReactJS or 5+ years of experience building high-throughput and scalable RESTful APIs using Python frameworks (such as Flask, FastAPI, etc)
Demonstrated ability with either SQL or NoSQL database technologies such as MySQL, Postgres, MongoDB
Proven experience working with cloud platforms preferably AWS.
2+ years of experience with agile software development practices, and experience using tools such as JIRA, or Rally
Experience with code management systems such as GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, etc.
Experience with data pipelines
Core Skills:
A team player, and passionate about learning new technology/methodology.
Desire to understand the clinical domain and build and deliver customer-centric products.
Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and eager to solve complex problems.
An effective communicator and possess team and customer-focused competency.
Resilient in recovering from setbacks and skilled at finding detours around problems.

Reports to the Director, Software Engineering
Schedule: Hybrid, 2 days onsite & 3 days remote
Location: 1275 York Avenue, NYC
Pay Range:$118,800 - $196,200
