Job Summary:

The Sterile Processing Technologist is responsible for the proper decontamination, inspection, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instruments. This role requires proficiency in operating processing equipment and understanding appropriate sterilization methods in relation to various medical devices.

Key Responsibilities: Decontamination: Decontaminate surgical instruments according to manufacturer's instructions or directives from the department supervisor or manager. Operate decontamination equipment effectively. Inspection: Inspect instruments post-decontamination to ensure all items are clean, intact, functional, and accounted for. Assembly: Assemble trays to maintain device sterility and ensure ease of access for the end user. Utilize count sheets for accurate tray assembly. Tracking System Interface: Interface with the department tracking system for all processing functions. Packaging: Package or containerize instrument sets following manufacturer's guidelines and standards. Sterilization: Load sterilizer carts carefully to prevent damage to packaged items. Operate sterilizers according to manufacturer's instructions, conducting daily sterilizer tests and biological monitoring for every load. Documentation: Document all load contents, confirming correct parameters and monitoring sterilizer performance against the tracking system. Storage: Unload sterilizers, ensuring items are not compromised, and store them in the correct locations as per tracking system requirements. Maintenance: Ensure cleanliness of the department and all processing equipment.

Required Qualifications: Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent. Work Experience: 1-3 years of experience in Central Sterile Processing Department (CSPD) preferred. Preferred Qualifications:

Licensure/Certification/Registration: CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) CBSPDT (Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician) CIS (Certified Instrument Specialist) preferred. 930 SW Abbey St Newport, OR 97365
