About the Role:
The Senior Director of Medical Strategy & Operations reports to the VP of Medical Affairs & HEOR, oversees strategic processes, tools, and operational support for the entire Medical Affairs and HEOR organizations including field medical teams. This role ensures operational excellence by maintaining consistency in reporting of performance metrics as well as insights while driving consistency in best practices across functions. Key responsibilities include developing and executing operational plans, providing leadership and mentorship, driving continuous improvement, and fostering cross-functional collaboration. The role will also work with leadership to establish and implement KPIs / metrics aligned with strategic priorities and change management strategies while contributing to the overall success of Medical Affairs and HEOR initiatives.
Your Contributions (include, but not limited to):
- Provides overall management of the Medical Strategy and Operations function and budget, overseeing all processes and operational support for Medical Affairs and HEOR teams.
- Ensures operational excellence and drives consistently high performance across functions and teams.
- Provides leadership and direction through various levels of managers and high-level professionals across all Medical Strategy and Operations functions.
- Ensures alignment of team efforts with the strategic goals of Medical Affairs and HEOR, fostering a collaborative and efficient working environment.
- Partners with Medical Affairs Leadership and HEOR to develop and implement strategic plans for all aspects of Medical Operations (e.g., systems, tools, communications, etc.).
- Collaborates with Executive Field Leadership to align field operations with organizational, functional, and broader business goals.
- Leads the design and deployment of field force strategies in collaboration with executive leadership across Medical and HEOR teams.
- Ensures operational processes comply with relevant regulations, requirements, and serves as the business owner for compliance-related systems.
- Implements and maintains systems and processes that support operational excellence, efficiency, and continuous improvement within Medical Affairs and HEOR.
- Manages relationships with vendors providing systems, data analytics, software, and consulting services, ensuring cost-effective and high-quality service delivery.
- Provides strategic input to shape annual plans of action and customer engagement strategies, leveraging field insights and data analytics.
- Serves as a consultative advisor to field leadership, delivering analytics based on key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify opportunities for improved productivity and business performance.
- Creates and delivers onboarding, periodic training, and communications related to Medical Strategy and Operations to ensure effective understanding and use of all processes and tools.
- Leads initiatives to upskill team members, enhancing their capabilities to drive operational excellence and support strategic goals.
- Develops and executes change management strategies, including communication plans, training, and support systems, to facilitate smooth transitions and maintain team morale during restructuring or strategic shifts.
- Proactively identifies opportunities to enhance systems and processes, driving continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
- Ensures that field operations are effectively supported, with tools and processes designed to meet the needs of field-based teams.
- Develops and maintains clear KPIs and metrics to assess the effectiveness of the Medical Strategy and Operations function, ensuring accountability and continuous improvement.
- Fosters a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning within the Medical Strategy and Operations team.
Requirements:
- BS / BA degree Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, or similar role and 15+ years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry, with a strong background in medical affairs, clinical operations, and project management including prior managerial and operations experience OR
- Masters degree in similar role as noted above and 13+ years of relevant experience as noted above OR
- PhD, PharmD, DO in similar role as noted above and 10+ years of relevant experience as noted above.
- Strong leadership and communication skills are also essential, as well as a thorough understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements in the industry.
- Recognized as an internal thought leader with extensive technical and business expertise in key field operations functions, including, field force deployment, medical systems, field reporting, and sample accountability, within a strategic organization.
- Proven expertise in medical field operations support functions.
- Applies in-depth knowledge of own function, business / IT expertise to successfully and innovatively solve critical issues.
- Evaluates key business challenges and directs the execution of operational support processes and tools which have cross-functional impact.
- Working knowledge and experience with data, analytics, and operations systems.
- High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
- Ability to source vendors, communicate requirements to them, and manage performance.
- Strong organization, planning, and budget management skills.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and business process orientation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization with confidence.

The annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay is $232,000.00-$335,875.00. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 35% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
