Position Summary
Under general supervision, drive heavy duty, medium duty, and/or light duty buses, including regular fixed route and para-transit operations; assist passengers with belongings; collect fares or tickets; and perform related work as required.

Job Duties
Follow safety procedures for vehicle operation. Drive passenger vehicles. Inspect motor vehicles. Provide customers with general information or assistance; and transportation information to passengers or customers. Assist passengers during vehicle boarding; others during emergencies; and customers to ensure comfort or safety. Collect fares or payment from customers. Notify others of emergencies, problems, or hazards. Follow GPS on tablet or ranger to determine routes. Record sales or transactions data; and operational or production data such as mileage, fuel and oil. Clean interior and exterior of vehicles or vehicle components. Secure mobility devices using a four-point securement system. Maintain vehicles in good working condition: check tires, oil, lubricants, water levels, lights and fuel. Report defective parts on transit vehicles. Prepare reports of driving hazards, incidents and accidents. Participate in the City's Intercultural Competency Training and program; and New Hire Orientation. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

- Using equipment or systems. Watching gauges, dials, or display screens to make sure a machine is working. Far and Near Vision Control Precision
- Quickly changing the controls of a bus. Depth Perception
- Deciding which thing is closer or farther away from you, or deciding how far away it is from you. Spatial Orientation
- Knowing where things are around you. Reaction Time
- Quickly moving your hand, finger, or foot based on a sound, light, picture or other command. Rate Control
- Changing when and how fast you move based on how something else is moving. Selective Attention
- Paying attention without being distracted. Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of a high school diploma or its equivalent; Customer service experience; 1 to 12 months of experience or on-the-job training driving; Or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Possession of a valid driver's license. Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a valid Class "B" commercial driver's license with air brakes and passenger endorsement within 3 months period of employment ,as a required, Minimum Qualification versus preferred. Also added as required, should be the a driving record that meets and maintains insurability standards as established by the City. This is a safety sensitive position. Federal Transit Authority guidelines require passing a drug screen prior to start date and ongoing participation in the random drug screen program during employment in this position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience driving an ambulance, truck, bus, taxi or similar passenger vehicle.
Supplemental Information
WORKING CONDITIONS: Duties require occasional heavy lifting; and physically assisting in the boarding and departure of passengers, with or without mobility devices, up to a total weight of 800 lbs.
SUPERVISORY STATUS:
None
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT: Employee shall establish their principal place of residence within fifty (50) miles of their place of employment as soon as practical after appointment, but within two years of their date of employment or appointment.
