About the Device Security Team
Verkada's device security team has an important mission-empower the company to build the safest physical security products in the world. We are directly responsible for the development of important defensive security measures that run on all Verkada devices. We help maintain and expand security testing infrastructure that constantly evaluates devices for security vulnerabilities. And we help the company build stronger and more resilient products through our offensive security evaluation efforts. Backend Engineer Day-to-Day: Build out and maintain security infrastructure, such as Supertest, our device security testing automation system. Write security tooling that helps us secure the firmware software supply chain. Design, build, and maintain device security backend systems, such as those relating to authorization and logging. Help mentor other engineers, and learn everything you can about security. Contribute to other parts of the team (cloud, firmware, offensive testing), should that interest you. Experience:
8+ years developing backend microservices, preferably in Python or Go. Strong knowledge of scalable fault-tolerant backend systems design, including databases, queues, blob storage Working knowledge of at least some of these: temporal, AWS, docker, redis, dynamoDB, postgres, IAM, S3, kafka Strong understanding and experience in systems architecture. Have worked in an agile team environment. Nice to Have:
BS/MS in Computer Science, but non-traditional backgrounds are OK to apply as well! Advanced software architecture or API design experience Interest or working knowledge of cryptography Hacker mindset, or interest in knowing more Perks & Benefits:

Pay Disclosure
At Verkada, we want to attract and retain the best employees, and compensate them in a way that appropriately and fairly values their individual contribution to the company. With that in mind, we carefully consider a number of factors to determine the appropriate starting pay for an employee, including their primary work location and an assessment of a candidate's skills and experience, as well as market demands and internal parity. This estimate can vary based on the factors described above, so the actual starting annual base salary may be above or below this range. This estimate is also just one component of Verkada's total rewards package. A Verkada employee may be eligible for additional forms of compensation, depending on their role, including sales incentives, discretionary bonuses, and/or equity in the company in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
