JOB DESCRIPTION
FOX Corporation’s Legal Technology team is seeking an experienced attorney to work with our cutting-edge emerging technology group. The Vice President, Legal - Emerging Technology will be responsible for drafting, negotiating, and managing strategic technology agreements related to emerging technology and advertising technology, as well as educating and advising management and other business team members on legal issues affecting business decisions. The Vice President, Legal - Emerging Technology will partner cross-functionally with FOX business lawyers, and technology, ad sales, product, and data science teams to advise on technology issues relating to all aspects of FOX’s media businesses, including, but not limited to ad tech, consumer-facing websites, products and platforms, as well as mobile and other applications. You will collaborate closely with privacy counsel and information security to ensure the successful implementation of technology solutions throughout the company. The Legal Technology team is fast-paced and collaborative, as we work on challenging technical and legal issues in a rapidly evolving technology landscape.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide legal advice on a variety of emerging technology-related topics, including artificial intelligence (AI), advertising technology, intellectual property, and consumer protection.
- Advise on product features, and draft platform terms of use, and terms related to the collection, use, and transfer of consumer data.
- Advise the emerging technology team on the responsible procurement, development, management, and integration of AI technology into products and services.
- Structure, draft, and negotiate transactional and technology licensing agreements, including services, SaaS, EULAs, and vendor agreements.
- Remain up to date on relevant technology laws and regulations, as well as on technological developments and evolving industry standards to ensure an ongoing ability to provide sound compliance advice.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- Bachelor’s Degree and Juris Doctor Degree from a top-tier ABA-accredited U.S. law school.
- 7+ years of experience at a leading law firm and/or in-house in a technology company environment.
- Experience providing pragmatic and actionable advice to clients on various obligations and legal risks under applicable technology laws.
- Strong substantive background in emerging technology, including subject matter expertise on legal and regulatory issues pertaining to AI and advertising technology, including data privacy, data security, intellectual property, and consumer protection matters.
- Strong eye for detail with sharp analytical skills; excellent judgment and strategic thinking ability.
- Demonstrated transactional and technology licensing experience, including structuring, drafting, and negotiating services, technology, SaaS, and vendor agreements, and other commercial contracts.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, creative environment.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects across multiple business units at one time.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and relationship management skills.
NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER
- Familiarity with IT infrastructure, software (including open source), data science practices and systems, and cloud computing services.
- Admission to the State Bar of California. Registered In-House Counsel is acceptable, provided the individual is licensed in at least one U.S. state.
Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $222,500.00-304,000.00 annually for California. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents.
